Doug MacLean said earlier today, on Hockey Central at Noon, that a compromise for the CBA is right there in front of the players and owners.
“Can the NHLPA say today ‘we will do a 10 year CBA deal but we can opt out after 8 years’ then the NHL says ‘we will give you 8 year terms.’ How complicated is that? They should be able to get that done in 5 minutes. I don’t see how complicated it is.”
Mark Spector said on twitter “Ability to sign your own player to 7-yr term would really impinge on free agency. NHLPA dead set against all elements of 5 and 7 demand.
