At ESPN.com, Pierre LeBrun writes that the most promising sign in the negotiations between the NHL and NHLPA is “both sides seem up to the task of trying to persevere through it right now.”
LeBrun thinks that player contract issues will start to become the focus one the two sides come to terms on the make whole and revenue sharing issues.
He notes that the league will want to “win” some of the issues in the player contract talks and that could lead to some issues.
LeBrun thinks that the owners will not be satisfied with just getting the players down to 50/50, they will want more.
Gary Bettman told the NY Times yesterday, “Every day that passes I think is critical for the game and for our fans.”
