The Rangers are 6-5 through eleven games and following tonight’s game against the Bruins they will be a quarter of the way through the season.
At NHL.com, Dan Rosen looks at whether certain teams should start to panic or stay patient and puts the Rangers in the patient column.
John Tortorella was asked yesterday what it means to be a 1/4 of the way through the season and said, “we are cognizant of it. I usually don’t pay too much attention to it, but in this scenario, it has a lot to do with how you run your hockey team. You need to get wins quickly. We are not going to allow players to play through, we need them to get going right away. There just isn’t much time. You see the standings, you win a couple and you are right there. You lose a couple and you are out.”
Tortorella added, “I’m not thinking playoffs right now, but we don’t have a lot of games so our philosophy is to get well as quick as possible and stay well.”
