Buzz: The Rangers Check In With Every Team To See Who Is Available/Time Is Now To Make A Deal

At ESPN Insider, Craig Custance writes that now is the time for the Rangers to be aggressive at the trade deadline and try to make a deal similar to the one that the Kings made last year when they traded Jack Johnson for Jeff Carter.

Custance says that “it’s not a reach” to say that the Kings wouldn’t have won the Stanley Cup without GM Dean Lombardi’s aggressiveness in acquiring Carter.

Custance spoke with Rangers assistant GM Jeff Gorton at the GM meetings in Toronto and Gorton said that the Rangers always try to be aggressive and make moves that will help them now and in the future.

Gorton added that the Rangers like to call as many teams as they can to see which players are available and make sure they have all of their bases covered.

The Rangers have been linked to Dan Boyle and there have also been rumblings about the Rangers moving Marian Gaborik.
