Elliotte Friedman sent out a tweet indicating that if the NHL gets it’s way and the 82 game season is saved and starts on November 2, the new CBA would need to be ratified by the end of next week.
“Thinking out loud: if NHL wants to start season Nov. 2, deal (including ratification by both sides) would probably need to be done by next FRI. There’s a lot to be done over next few days. “
Neither side should get hung up on 11/2 or 82 game season…74/76 game season starting 11/15 or so is just fine…Fans save some money too.—

Adam Rotter: I think the owners pulled a strategic move with their proposal today and their claim to try and save the 82 game season. They have taken the “big” step and now it’s on the players to take their step. I don’t think we will see an 82 game season, there is still a lot of negotiating that needs to happen, but I am confident that we will see hockey this year and I think that a start date of Thanksgiving, or around then is entirely possible with a schedule of 60-65 games.
