Read: Pushing Things To The Brink To Strike A Deal

Scott Burnisde, at ESPN.com, and Andy Strickland, at True Hockey, write that the NHL is planning to squeeze-out every possible second that it can before agreeing to a new CBA.

Burnside says that the NHL fears making their concessions too early and then having Donald Fehr asking for more.

Strickland writes that Don Fehr has convinced the players to wait out the owners until the end of the process since they don’t believe the owners are going to lose the season over the issues that are currently separating them.

Strickland also writes that he expects a deal to be complete around January 10th and then have a 48 game season start around January 20th.
