I agree if Idzik is back so is Rex. Next season is a much better schedule. NFC east and ABC south plus 4 oak and browns. We need 2 CA and a coverage capable LB on Def. On O we need a premier OG and either winters boy or colon for other G. Add a true number 2 we alongside decker and Harvin. Keep Kersey as slot we and PR.

He no and Locker fight for QB. Draft CB, OL,LB and TE. Quick turnaround like Houston. ..but we have a front four that is unique..can handle run and pass alone. If we had a better secondary no doubt they would have more sacks....and more blitzing.

Geno peers into the black void:

"[It’s] almost exciting to think about all the room for improvement that we have."

Geno's remark would be great if Jets where 10-2 not 2-10

OK, here is my latest Simulated mock Draft...

Round 1 Pick 4 Marcus Mariota QB, Oregon

Round 2 Pick 4 Dorial Green-Beckham WR, Oklahoma

Round 3 Pick 4 Ty Sambrailo, OL, Colorado St.

Round 4 Pick 4 Todd Gurley RB, Georgia

Round 5 Pick 4 Steven Nelson CB, Oregon St.

Round 7 pick 4 Best punter on the board.

Can't pass on gurley in the 4th round!!! or DGB in the 2nd round...

Sambarilo is really good value in the 3rd as well.

Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel spoke with one anonymous scout who called Texas A&M senior T Cedric Ogbuehi "soft" and noted he "never practices."

As always, if you trust the reporter, trust their judgment regarding which scouts they quote and poll. McGinn is one of the best in terms of acquiring a range NFL evaluators' opinions. "It is a very deep draft for tackles if all the juniors come out," another scout said. Rotoworld's Josh Norris ranks Ogbuehi behind Ronnie Stanley and La'El Collins.

Sounds like another winner!

One NFL scout revealed to Bob McGinn that former Washington junior CB Marcus Peters "tried to strangle a coach on the sidelines."

This led to Peters' first suspension. "Then they let him back on the team and he did it all over again," the scout said of Peters. "Try selling that to your head coach." We have seen numerous prospects enter the NFL with "character concerns." This makes Peters' potential draft slot impossible to project despite the obvious talent he offers.

Tried to strangle a coach on the sidelines???

Then he tried to do it again???

Sounds like a Marvin lewis type of guy!

@a57se They will most likely love where they are. Giving them a chance to get Cooper.

@a57se  You need put put an OLB in there somewhere, the Jets need some youth and speed.

@a57se If we are picking 4 there  is a slim to none chance that Mariota is there and slim just left for Tampa.

@a57se Gurley in the 4th? I hope you dropped an entire roll of pennies into the well to make that one happen.

Brendan
Brendan

Point of reference: the same injury (albeit one fracture, not two) kept Tony Romo out for 1 game.

That sounds like a little bit more serious than "minor injuries" to me, but whatever. Maybe he actually misses a game now? Go Tampa.

Brendan
Brendan

@a57se Their passing grades were 3.9 for Rodgers and 2.6 for Geno. Rodgers had the highest passing grade of the week.

@Brendan @a57se

I can only pick the players that are available...more than likely i would have chosen between Ajayi and Yeldon but I just HAD to take gurley since he was there.

Pablo Bruno

@Brendan  He'll probably miss more than that, why risk further injuring your franchise QB for a very unlikely wildcard spot? But damn, that division is terrible none of them have winning records, TB at 2-11 are in the mix still lol, Jk, those other teams would probably have tie breakers but imagine if they tie with the top two teams at 5-11.

@a57se @Brendan That is right around where Lattimore went, but we all know what happened there...

Marvin doesn't care if the guy is doomed for a life in prison. As long as he isn't a "Midget".

@a57se @jsadolph You post other people's research and analysis and try to tell us how smart you are?  And, it's based on a anonymous scout.  Jeez.

@Brendan @a57se

Yup, you scrambled over to PFF's premium Stats section to find anything you could to post as a refutation...

I get it.

Brendan
Brendan

@a57se To give you some perspective: a +3.9 grade every week would give you a +62.4 grade. That would be the 2nd highest QB grade ever for a season.

PFF gave Rodgers an appropriately-graded game, so is it your argument that they inflated Geno's grade?

@a57se @williamg1 @hazard2012

Lol. Seriously, I don't think Bevell would even want it if Idzik is here. No one wants to be the HC when the GM could be gone after the season.

@williamg1 @a57se @hazard2012

The circle jerk continues.

There are any number of guys with a good resume (not good enough for you of course) who would line up to coach in the NFL under any circumstance.  Any one of them or even a name brand might draft other needs in a rebuilding process and let Geno compete with a Ryan Fitzpatrick type next year looking for a bluer blue-chip than the Duck or the Nol down the road.

Brendan
Brendan

@williamg1 Which is why I've been saying if you keep Idzik, you have to keep Rex. One last run for a playoff spot or they're both canned.

Pablo Bruno
Pablo Bruno

@Brendan @williamg1  They both need to be canned right now, Rex and Idzik will do anything possible to win these last three games to save face, they do not care at this point what is the long term interest of the Jets, they know they are goners, If I'm Woody I fire them two, I'll try to be as diplomatic as possible about it, and let a MM to run the team, I'll even lie to him, you lose for us and we'll consider bringing you back..lol

@Brendan @williamg1

There's some logic in that approach, Brendan...not that I would embrace it...but it does make sense I think if you look at it from a negative perspective...what HC worth hiring would take a job under the prevailing circumstances...with a potentially lame-duck GM on a short leash who, as I've said before, by chance or design, doomed his last HC to failure?

From any other perspective however it makes no sense to keep either, but if the team goes 2-14 or 3-13, and hasn't had a winning season in four years, how can Woody possibly justify keeping Rex Ryan?    What can Rex do in one more season that he hasn't already done or failed to do in the last six?

And if the argument is that Rex is a good HC who would have done better with better talent and fewer glaring holes then you're writing the epitaph of Idzik...fire him and keep Rex.    Not sure how you can justify keeping both unless you say 'no one else is willing to coach or GM here."

a57se
a57se

@Brendan @williamg1

Would you please stop with the playoff nonsense.

Ths team is not going on a playoff run...

Brendan
Brendan

@hazard2012 I was talking about this with TOTJ on twitter, but you're not getting a top-flight HC candidate to take a job with a lame-duck GM. If you keep Idzik, just keep Rex and see if they have some magic left. If not, don't saddle the new HC hire with a GM who is possibly out the door, I just feel like guys will shy away from it.

If the options are "Keep Idzik and let him hire a new HC" or "Keep Idzik and keep Rex and clean house in 2016 (for real this time) if they flounder" I'm taking the latter, I think. I don' t even know, we've discussed this so often I've talked myself out of and back into multiple stances.

Brendan
Brendan

@a57se Can you please stop pretending you know that for a fact?

hazard2012

@Brendan @hazard2012

Completely see your point and agree with it...but it is a somewhat negative thinking to solving the problem.   A more positive, proactive approach would be to view the body of work by the two men, find it lacking, sack them both and start over again while there's still some talent ...and now the prospects of high draft picks and lots of cap room...to build on.

The odds of Rex finally seeing the light of the need for an offense, and for Idzik to become a wizard in FAcy and the draft, seem awfully remote to me.

Brendan
Brendan

@hazard2012  Yeah, it's definitely a "lesser of evils" type of thinking. I've been preparing for Idzik to stay on for weeks so I've been putting myself in "what's best for the team if Idzik stays" lines of thinking and that's where I turned up.

I think if you gave Rex a good QB the "light" would go on.

@Brendan @hazard2012

By "Preparing for Idzik to stay" you mean you were the one snatching the Fire Idzik posters at the game?
