Read: What Brian Boyle Is Doing Well

At SI Red Light, Stu Hackel looks at the two biggest impact players in the playoffs so far; Dustin Brown and Brian Boyle.

On what makes Boyle such an effective player, Hackel writes:

What Boyle does very well is get the puck deep in the offensive zone and keep the cycle going, letting his frame be an asset along the boards, in front of the net and in traffic anywhere on the ice. And in the playoffs, when the checking gets close, that’s as important a quality as you can have.

John Tortorella said following Boyle’s game winning goal on Monday,”he is playing the right way. I think a lot of us can follow his lead. That is what he is doing now, leading.”

Ryan Callahan said after the game on Monday, “he just looks determined out there. He looks like he can’t be stopped. He is doing all the little things for us.”

Callahan said yesterday, “he has played great. Not only is he winning faceoffs, killing penalties and winning faceoffs, he is scoring goals. We need guys like that to step up.”

On what kind of impact Boyle is having, Brad Richards said yesterday, “it’s huge right now. Obviously right now he has helped us a lot. In every series different people step up to carry the load.”

Richards added, “the last month of the season he played really well. It’s like anybody, he probably wanted to do more earlier in the year. He regained his confidence and has done so many other good things. It’s good to see him get rewarded offensively.”
