READ: A “Long” Three Years For John Tortorella?

In the Boston Globe, Kevin Paul Dupont writes about Rangers coach John Tortorella and his new three-year deal.

He says, “In his two-plus seasons behind the Rangers bench, Tortorella has twice made the playoffs, wrapped around a 2010 DNQ, and has seen his club go 4-8 in a pair of first-round KOs by the Capitals. That limited success, paired with his prickly personality, makes a three-year deal sound long.”

In the regular season, Torts is 94-73-18.

87% of readers say that John Tortorella is the right man to lead the Rangers.

This is a case of a national writer who doesn’t see the Rangers unless he is playing the Bruins. At least it seems that way.

Besides the fact that Torts worked with a limited group and had them overachieve for most of the season, he was much better with the media this year. Sure, he will have a blow up here and there with Larry Brooks, but Torts has the Rangers on the right track and I hope that he succeeds and gets another contract extension after this one runs out.
