Gaborik is feeling better according to reports and should give the Rangers more than he did over the weekend. Still, John Tortorella needs more from the top unit:
“Although our top line was more engaged [Sunday night against Buffalo], they weren’t on the scoring sheet,” Tortorella said. “I will give them another whack [tonight] and hopefully they will get some chances.”
….The best players need to show up when they are needed the most and that is Gaborik and Prospal. Christensen’s play has dipped a tiny bit but he is at his best when Gaborik is moving his feet and he can get him the puck.
The issue of course is who moves where if the unit struggles. Brandon Dubinsky may move up, since Artem Anisimov may have found a spot with Olli Jokinen and Sean Avery, but Christensen then moves down to the third line where he isn’t entirely the most useful player. Dubinsky has three goals in four games and could be at a point where he can play with Gaborik and Prospal again this season. Hopefully though the top line gets it together for tonight and line shuffling won’t be needed.
