During the post game show on MSG Thursday night, Dave Maloney was talking about Carl Hagelin and said:
The good news is that he has been your best player, the bad news is that you need contributions from guys like Brad Richards, Ryan Callahan and Brandon Dubinsky.
Maloney says that the pressure to score shouldn’t fall on Hagelin and that more players need to step up.
It’s great when a Hagelin or a Brian Boyle, Brandon Prust, Ruslan Fedotenko or John Mitchell is the best player once in a while, but it’s not something that you can count on to be consistent. The top guys are the top guys for a reason and they need to start playing like it consistently. Maybe they just need a rest and with the All-Star break coming up they will get that. They have two games to play before then though and they will all feel better with four more points heading into the break.
