Heading into their game with Dallas tonight, the Rangers are off to their best start since 1993-94.
Henrik Lundqvist told the media following the win on Sunday that this team has higher expectations of themselves this season.
“I think we just raised the bar this year. We are not satisfied with playing okay or just getting a point. We want to win. I think we have so many good players in the room right now and we are challenging ourselves to be better and push each other. I think we have four really good lines out there. It helps to have that many good players and guys who have been here for a couple of years to know what to expect from the coaching staff and each other in the room. It’s a great feeling to see how we play and push each other through the ups and downs.
Brad Richards told the NY Post “We’re playing with full confidence. And when we have that, I think we can skate with anybody.”
Hank has seen all the Ranger teams since the lockout and has singlehandley put the Rangers in the playoffs on many occasions. Now he sees a team where he is till the backbone, but he is surrounded by a lot of talent up front and on defense. He is playing great, but it’s even better to be able to think in the third period that he hasn’t been tested much because everyone else was playing at a high level.
The same old story of the past few years won’t cut it anymore, expectations are higher across the board and right now they are meeting them.
