Buzz: NHL has had previous discussions with the Mets about having a game at Citi Field

The NHL and the Mets have had discussions in the past about bringing an outdoor game to Citi Field. (ESPN NY)

The Mets would be open to revisiting those talks to bring a game to Citi Field. (ESPN NY)

Yankees President Randy Levine said that the team loved having the games at Yankee Stadium and would love to have more games there in the future. (ESPN NY)

It is unlikely that the NHL will return to New York next year to stage an outdoor event (ESPN NY) and the league will likely do four games next year, including the Winter Classic and a Heritage Classic in Canada. (Darren Dreger)

I went to the Isles/Rags game.  I had lower box seats (near left field) which would have been great baseball seats, but were completely atrocious for hockey.  I watched the entire game on the jumbotron.

Rangers-Bruins match up at Citi Field would be really awesome to see! Go Mets and Go Bruins!

I would like to see a yearly round robin of the three greater NYC teams at one of three outdoor stadiums [Citi, Met, & Yankee] each year.

Yankee Stadium is nice, Citi field is much nicer. It's an ideal place for a Winter Classic for the Rangers because lets be honest they should not play a home game at MetLife just because it's a bigger stadium, I'd support the Islanders before I want the rangers to have a home game in Jersey

@Chris Weber  The Rangers will NEVER get a home because of tax purposes, so don't worry about supporting the Rangers and a home game. Read up on the facts and you'll retract your comment, or at least have the knowledge next time before you simply make a silly comment because you just hate the Rangers.

@Chris Weber The Rangers have a contractual obligation to play all home games at MSG... which is why they were the away team technically for both games at Yankee Stadium.

@Chris Warren Part of that reason was that and part was what NHL needs to pay. More importantly, it's not a contractual obligation it's a tax exempt option and I'm sure something could be worked out with the city to have one game not played at MSG considering the amount of extra revenue a Winter Classic would bring in. I don't think I'm out of line in saying that.
