Read: The Rangers rank near the bottom of the league in prospect rankings

1:19PM: The Hockey News Yearbook has the Rangers 30th in the NHL in prospects based on their “Future Watch” issue from the spring.

8/14/14 | 10:34AM: The Rangers are ranked 28th in Corey Pronman’s rankings of each organizations “prospect pipeline.” (ESPN Insider)

He puts the Rangers at 28th because Chris Kreider and JT Miller are considered to be “graduates” and because they have dealt away their first round pick the last two years. (ESPN Insider)

Pronman adds that he really likes Pavel Buchnevich but all the other prospects need to improve to be considered “top prospects.” (ESPN Insider)

He adds that Dylan McIlrath’s development has been on the “slow side.” (ESPN Insider)

Pronman had the Rangers in one of his lower tiers last year.

Hockey’s Future had the Rangers at 23rd in the Spring after putting them at 27th in the Fall.

Hard to argue. There isn't a consensus 1st line forward or top pair Dman in the system. After Duc, Buch and Sjkei there isn't much there.

and don't forget Chris Kreider who just had 13 points in 15 playoff games and is about explode

They've had enough prospects come in and contribute to a very steady stretch of hockey since the last lockout. Lundqvist, Staal, Stepan, Callahan, Dubinsky, Anisimov, McDonagh(essentially a Rangers homegrown since he was still in college when the Rangers stole him from Montreal), Hagelin, Kreider and several others that have contributed to this team's solid decade of success. Scouts need some credit here.

Marc, since the end of the first lockout in 2005, this has been arguably one of the best 10 year stretches in the history of the franchise and much of it is due to home grown talent. Why don't you go root for the team in Uniondale that annually has the greatest prospects if that's all you care about.

Our scouts should be so canned. Inexcusable to have so few prospects that have actually panned out...let alone stayed in NY...let alone become blue chippers. Fire them all and start from scratch.

Fitting he is associated with ESPN then. They know as much about hockey as I do about Nascar. I know nothing about Nascar.

he's the guy who thought Chris Kreider wasn't going to be very good

the same teams, year after year are always at the top of the prospect rankings. We just keep winning playoff series.
