NEWS: Pittsburgh Claims Taylor Pyatt

PyattThe Pittsburgh Penguins have claimed winger Taylor Pyatt from the Rangers (Elliotte Friedman)

Pyatt is a UFA at the end of the season and has a cap hit of $1.55 million.

The Rangers, according to Cap Geek, after losing Pyatt have $2.669 million in cap space.

The Rangers play the Penguins tomorrow night.

Adam Rotter: The most important thing about Pyatt being claimed is that all of his salary comes off the books for the Rangers. Had he been sent to Hartford the Rangers would have had $625,000 in dead cap space.

I hope he stinks out their entire offense and contributes nothing, the way he did with us.

Does this team need ANOTHER 3rd/4th line clogger? Can't believe management would free up (a little) cap space to sign more junk. (Then again this is the management that signed half this crappy bottom6 in the summer....)
