Read/Watch: Ryan Callahan Was Superb On Tuesday

Ryan Callahan attempted 11 shots for the Rangers on Tuesday, seven on goal, one that was blocked and three that missed the net. He had three hits and two blocked shots.

Callahan also scored and was a plus two.

Joe Micheletti said of Callahan on MSG, “If you want a standing ovation at MSG just watch what Ryan Callahan does. You talk about heart and soul, this is the Ryan Callahan that everyone loves. He was absolutely marvelous tonight. When they needed a spark he was there tonight.”

Brian Leetch said that Callahan’s teammates were probably sitting in the locker room disappointed that they watched their captain play the way he did and lose.

When talking about Callahan yesterday, John Tortorella said “”Sh!! he tried to will us to a win. He was close to getting us a point. Ryan Callahan is that type of player, we all know that. He is a special guy.”

Taylor Pyatt, in the Daily News, said of that shift,”to sacrifice his body like that and score a big goal, that’s why he’s our captain.”

Pyatt added, “when you’re on another team you see what kind of players guys are across the way, but when you see it first-hand like that, it’s inspiring, the way he plays the game and plays so hard. He kills penalties, power play, blocks shots, he’s good in every aspect of the game. He’s one of the best all-around players I’ve seen.”

Ridley sounded like a good pick up from NE.  It's  now 11 months he's away from the game.

What can be said, BB knows what he's doing?

@Brendan

Well, Bowles didn't confirm it.  Maybe they want to activate him before the season, then release him so they won't have to pay his salary.

No brainer though, surely.

Daisy Ridley > Stevan Ridley.

Worst usage of the word "could" that I've ever seen.  No way he is activated before the season.

This has always been a no-brainer.  They don't need him, but he won't be using up a roster spot while he remains on the PUP and it would be nice to have the option to activate an experienced back who will have had plenty of time to learn the playbook later on in the year in case of injury or maybe even just to see if he can produce later in the year when he is fresh but everyone else is banged up.
