Read: The Speed of Marian Gaborik

During the shootout last night, Marian Gaborik sped into the zone on Mike Smith, stopped, and rifled a shot through the five hole.

Gaborik said on MSG last night that he wanted to put the “breaks on” during his attempt and that it worked well.

Dave Maloney said on the post game show that Gaborik has been authoritative using his speed.

At ESPN NY, Gaborik told Katie Strang that he wants the responsibility of being in the shootout.

Gaborik has been terrific this season. He was robbed on his penalty shot attempt but redeemed himself in a big way with the shootout goal. He has taken on the responsibility of being the top guy and has embraced it. He only has one goal in his last five games, but had seven in the five games that preceded it. He has been clutch though, scoring eight goals to give the Rangers the lead, three to tie a game and three to give them an insurance goal. He also has five game winners.
