Buzz: Rangers To Name Daniel Lacroix As Assistant Coach

According to Larry Brooks, the Rangers are going to name Dan Lacroix as the third assistant coach and final member of Alain Vigneault’s coaching staff.

He was a second round pick of the Rangers in 1987. From 1993 to 1996 he played 30 games for the Rangers and had two goals and two assists.

Lacroix has been with Tampa Bay since 2010 and came aboard with former coach Guy Boucher. The Lightning media guide says that Lacroix focused on the defensive unit. noted that he worked with the defense and the penalty killers.

Earlier in the month, Alain Vigneault said that he was looking for an assistant coach to be the “eye in the sky” and who will help with practice, pre-scouting, skill work and player development.

From 2006 to 2009, Lacroix was an assistant coach with the Islanders. He was hired by former Islanders GM Neil Smith to join Ted Nolan’s staff. In a statement from 2006, Smith said that Lacroix is a great teacher and a player that he knows from his time as GM of the Rangers.

Lacroix joins Ulf Samuelsson and Scott Arniel as assistant coaches.
