Read: John Tortorella Hopes Brian Boyle Was Miserable Last Night

Brian Boyle was a healthy scratch for the Rangers last night and was out of the Rangers lineup for the first time in two seasons.

In his  pre game meeting with the media, John Tortorella said last night, that he was hoping the experience for Boyle wouldn’t be enjoyable, “I want him to be miserable and hope that he never puts me in this type of situation again. I know he loves to play and he will get an opportunity to play. I hope I never have to be in this situation again.”

Tortorella added, I don’t think he has done a good job killing penalties, I don’t think he has done a good job blocking shots, but I know he is a better player.”

He went on to say that while there were other players who deserved to be benched, including one with five goals, Boyle and other bottom six players present an easier option, “there are couple of top guys. They have five goals, Brian has squat. The other guys will be held accountable and our team needs to understand that our start isn’t good enough. Third and fourth line guys are easy targets, some other guys that I’m really upset with but they are also making plays.”

Carp, at Rangers Report, writes of Boyle “He won’t get back into the lineup next game, and I’m not sure who comes out for him to get back in. Maybe it takes an injury, or for somebody else to slump. I think when he gets in you will see a better Boyle.”

Boyle was downtrodden yesterday and only blaming himself for being taken out of the lineup.
