Read: Brian Boyle Is Enjoying His Time At Wing

On Saturday night against the Lightning, Brian Boyle was part of a re-formed third line that saw him on left wing and Jeff Halpern at center.

Boyle spoke with the Daily News about the move to the wing, a position he doesn’t have much experience with, and said that the key for him was finding out he was going to play wing just before the game started so he didn’t have time to “psyche” himself out.

Boyle added, ” “It’s a lot of puck possession and holding onto pucks, all around the ice. As a centerman, you’re in the middle, you’ve got to get rid of it, distribute it. I’m just trying to simplify it, and (Tortorella) is helping me out by putting me on the wing. I can just go straight up and down.”

John Tortorella said yesterday that the move to the wing was to try and get Boyle around the puck more since that part of his game has been lacking this season.

Tortorella added, I thought that line played really well.”

Boyle and Halpern alternated faceoffs according to the Daily News, depending on which side of the ice they were on, and Boyle went 5 for 11 and Halpern went 6 for 10.
