Read: Brian Boyle on The New Guys

In the offseason, the Rangers lost Brandon Prust, John Mitchell and Ruslan Fedotenko from their bottom six roles and replaced them with Arron Asham, Taylor Pyatt and Jeff Halpern.

Brian Boyle, who played consistently over the past two seasons with Prust and Fedotenko told Blueshirts United that he is excited for his new group of teammates.

On his new teammates, Boyle said “Asham is a tough player, protects his teammates,and we’re all about that here, we’re a very close group. Halpern, having gone against him on faceoffs, you know it’s a huge challenge. I watched Taylor Pyatt in the playoffs and thought he was great.”

Adam Rotter: I think that Pyatt will be on one of Boyle’s wings with the other winger still undetermined. Boyle plays the same kind of game no matter who his linemates are and he will just have to develop chemistry with them like he did with Prust and Fedotenko. Asham and Halpern are likely to be with Mike Rupp on the fourth line.

it would be ideal if he where drafted in the third round, but if he's that good he may not be there

Starting to think Idzik may try to trade down a few spots, say to 26.  Let Cleveland move up 8 spots to grab Carr and the Jets might pick up an extra 3rd rounder

how would you guys feel about colt lyeria with one of those 6th round comp picks might be the most physically gifted tight end in the draft picking him that low would be low rick any one else we would draft probably wouldn't make the team has off field baggage but the guy can flat out ball

Pryor supposed to be traded or released today. What you guys think? There's a lot of qb's I like in this draft but Pryor is a specimen. In my opinion Pryor>Simms

Geno on receivers: "The guys that we had last year were more than viable options, I think it all came down to me, honestly."

Looks like Joey just lost the pieces debate once and for all.

Pffffft! This is all part of the Idzik smokescreen! He's trading all the Jets' picks to get the No. 1 pick (and a Ricky Williams jersey), which he will use to draft Jadevon Clowney, rename him JadeSON and then unleash a defensive line so monstrous that the rest of the league will just concede games to the Jets rather than risk the grievious injury that might befall their QBs!!!!! 16-0 baby, and a Lombardi Trophy!!!!!

WOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!!

OR they might just be interested in drafting a corner. Whatevs.

Still waiting to here that DAT is in the builing Idzik..What are ya waiting forrrr! I see smokescreen..No visits must mean no interest. Yeah right Idzik knows he's taking him with one of those picks in the 4th. No visits needed

@jdb4  What if Cleveland takes a QB with their earlier pick?

@a57se  He tore an ACL in October, which was six months ago. When were you expecting him to be ready? Even Peterson took longer than this.

@a57se  Yeah. I like Goodson but he has a tough road between this & his legal case.

@gbrownn  Pryor will have options better than being the #3 QB on the Jets.  He has more upside than most #2 QBs really & will see some playing time in 2014--maybe the Browns?

@gbrownn

I had a thought Pryor to that but I forgot..

@gbrownn

At the very least, Pryor will make the occasional awesome play. I don't care all that much about the 3rd QB though.

@Marvel  While I personally like OBJ and the way he would fit with Geno, I could see Cooks ending up being the best receiver of this draft when we look back in 5 years.

gbrownn

We are his only visit? This whole draft process? That can't be what that means.

Cordell C

@Bent what else would you expect him to say Geno isn't the type to call out his teammates this was a leader taking the blame for the teams problems rather than blame it on someone else

bklyndude
bklyndude

@Bent

Geno understands as the QB of this team, he can't lead the team if he is busy making excuses for why the offense didn't perform if he doesn't start with himself.

Everybody knows the WR group last year was collectively ranked near the bottom of the league.

Marvel

Cutting down on the pick 6s would help his progress.

@Bent  I think its somewhere in the middle: he stunk, and his pieces stunk. I'm hoping he can make some strides from his rookie year -- and some pieces would help. Decker and CJ are a nice start. He definitely needs more. Even better, he needs a LG who he can trust.

jdb4

@Brendan @jdb4

Possible but I believe Cleveland is taking Watkins or Evans

Cordell C
Cordell C

@a57se @Cordell C I think he's going to be the steal of the draft. His games is similar to Arron Hernadez, and I don't feel his off field problems are as bad as his were coming out of college

Cordell C
Cordell C

@juunit @Cordell C Because of what he said about Sandy Hook? This is America last time I checked everyone was has a right to there opinion.I don't like what he said just as much as you but cant hold his opinion against him. I was referring more to the substance abuse problems

gbrownn
gbrownn

@Marvel Why do you say that?

juunit
juunit

@Marvel @gbrownn

Yeah. But the point is so does Simms. And with Pryor being a dual-threat, which is clearly something the team likes in its QBs, he might fight better in Simms' spot than Simms.

gbrownn

Talent. I think Pryor oozes it.

@a57se @Bent   EVERYONE?...really.  Probably partly the reason for perceived negative when you use broad brush strokes...

juunit

@Cordell C @juunit

He also quit on his team after being suspended for I don't even know what. I think it was probably being lazy and not showing up on time/at all for practice.

Wilkershakes
Wilkershakes

@a57se @juunit   Now, here's one guy I did follow in college.  Not a good passer at all.  Huge guy that can run.  Sorry to use this analogy, but I picture him in the shotgun running like they used to do with (*gulp*) Tebow.

juunit

@a57se @juunit

I've said all along I think there's a very good chance we draft Boyd.

Joe/Orlando
Joe/Orlando

@juunit @Wilkershakes @gbrownn  Not true. The third QB designation was removed several years ago and an additional roster spot was added. Most teams, including the Jets, only dress two QBs now.

juunit
juunit

@Wilkershakes @juunit@gbrownn

Correct. Except in a situation where the other QB gets hurt, then there's some roster thingy that happens where the injured guy can basically switch inactive spots with the healthy guy mid-game.

Wilkershakes
Wilkershakes

@juunit @Wilkershakes @gbrownn  He certainly does have a better arm.  Just not sure how he'd fit with the team.  He can't be used in the game if he's designated as the 3rd QB though or he'd count as an active player that week...right?

juunit
juunit

@Wilkershakes @juunit@gbrownn

I don't think so. He has a MUCH better arm than Smith and he's truly a better athlete than him too. But, yeah, he wouldn't play special teams. That's not exactly unusual for a 3rd QB though. None of them play special teams.

gbrownn
gbrownn

On the contray, I think he could make the transition to WR if we really needed him to. He just wants to play qb. I dont have a problem with that. He had some flashes last year playing QB

gbrownn
gbrownn

Athleticism, I haven't seen too much of Simms to fiarly judge his QB play. But between a battle of Pryor vs Simms, I'd have to say I'd be more comfortable with a mobile 3rd string Qb if thats all Pryor ever becomes.

Cordell C
Cordell C

@a57se @Cordell C@Bent The great Tom Brady even looked average last year with a lack of weapons. We all don't like the guy but its hard to argue that he is a hall of fame qb. Geno's weapons when kerley and tone got hurt were worst than what brady had. what much could have expected from a rookie qb

jma020
jma020

@Brendan @Marvel  I just think it's time we invest some first round talent in the offense. Obviously we can use a corner, but I think our defense is hurt way more by an offense that is always going 3 and out than by a semi hole at corner.

Brendan
Brendan

@Marvel  For the team to be looking at guys like Herron in the 2nd there would need to be a tremendous run on WR's taking place, which would obviously leave some prime pieces at other positions sitting there.

I'm 100% fine with a WR in the first round (I encourage it, even), but I don't think it's "WR or bust." They can find very good players later on, and count me in for the Paul Richardson hype brigade, that guy looks like fun.

Marvel
Marvel

@Brendan

 If you can guarantee me Paul Richardson in the 2Nd or  3rd then we can talk , but I fear you will be looking at guys like Herron and Landry by then.

 Been listening to TJB cry about "pieces" for about 3 years now. Enough is enough.

Brendan
Brendan

@Marvel You also picked two dissimilar WR's, so the comparison is tougher to make.

I just don't like the one-sided nature of the posts sometimes. Everything that can be said against WR can be said against CB. They're both high-need positions with elite talents early and potentially-elite players later.

Marvel
Marvel

@Brendan

 technically.. lol

But imo.... for example

Varett in the 1st vs Phillip Gaines in the 3rd is a lesser gap than say Cooks in the 1st and Landry in the 3rd

But it's all opinion I guess.. imo First round CB isn't necessary. I'd actually prefer Pryor and I understand Rex values CB more.

Brendan
Brendan

@Marvel And it's kind of silly to simply act like there's no difference between 1st round CB's and 4th round CB's. I can make the same point about WR's, no?

Marvel
Marvel

@Brendan

 Against drafting a first round CB when one in the 3rd or 4th will be just fine.

AND no he won't be there in the 2nd.

Brendan
Brendan

@Marvel Why? You're against tough-guy CB's who play bigger than they are?
