8/18/14 | 11:12AM: Prospect Ryan Graves was traded from Val-d’Or  to Quebec last night where he will join fellow prospect Anthony Duclair and play in the Memorial Cup this season. (Buzzing the Net)

  • The 2014-15 Sports Forecaster says, “the mammoth fourth-round pick in 2014 wound up on the QMJHL champions last year, improving his strength and conditioning in the process. He has shutdown potential but is a project.
  • The 2014 Hockey News Future Watch issue ranked him 8th and said “has made big strides on and off the ice. Profiting from trade to better club and weight training.”
  • Ranked 9th in The Hockey News 2014-15 Yearbook.

Graves is 6-4, 220 and was the Rangers fourth round pick in 2013.

The Rangers signed Graves to an entry-level deal last season.

News: Rangers sign prospect Ryan Graves

The Rangers have signed 2013 fourth round pick Ryan Graves to an entry-level contract.

Graves is 6-4, 225 and playing for Val d’Or Foreurs in the QMJHL this season. He was traded from Charlottetwon earlier this year and spent the previous two seasons with PEI in the QMJHL.

This season he has 5 goals and 17 assists with 68 PIM and since being traded, in 26 games, he is a plus 22.

Graves was ranked 8th in The Hockey News Future Watch for Rangers prospects. They wrote, “has made big strides on and off the ice. Profiting from trade to better club and weight training.”

  • Ryan Graves, as a junior player, can have his contract slide next season and start the following year (2015-16). (Cap Geek)
  • His cap hit will be $660,000 and his AHL salary will be $67,500.

Gordie Clark said after the draft last year that Graves had a strong second half after a so-so first half.

News: Rangers Select Ryan Graves

The Rangers have selected defenseman Ryan Graves  with the 110th selection in the 2013 NHL Draft.

Graves plays for PEI in the QMJHL and is 6-4, 220.

He was ranked 116th in the final CSB rankings and 118th in the midterm rankings.

Graves had three goals and 13 assists in 68 games for PEI.
