During his meeting with the media earlier this week, Rick Nash revealed that he had spoken to a former Ranger and former teammate of his in Columbus who could give him some details about John Tortorella.
Nash was teammates with Vinny Prospal last season in Columbus and Prospal told him to expect a hard working and demanding coach.
“From what I understand he’s a very demanding and tough guy to play for and he really preaches hard work. That’s what you expect from a coach, that’s what you want.”
Nash says that Prospal “loves” Tortorella.
Nash added that he is ready for the infamous conditioning drills that John Tortorella is known for in training camp.
On the radio earlier this week, Tortorella said of Nash “I am glad it’s a deal that happened. I don’t know Rick, but I have heard so many great things about him. He is going to fit in because he goes about his business and works every day. We are really looking forward to it. This is a legit top power forward and we are excited about having him”
Aaron Portzline writes at Puck Rakers, “Going to make a bold prediction that Nash will return to the 40-goal, 80-point plateau. Won’t be surprised if he has some early-season run-ins with Tortorella, because Nash’s ‘good’ won’t be good enough in MSG. But I think Nash will be a beast again. Call it Tort Reform.”
