Powe was placed on IR yesterday.
In six games with the Rangers, Darroll Powe has established himself as a defensive player/penalty killer that John Tortorella trusts.
Earlier today, Tortorella said that the loss of Powe was felt instantly, “I missed him right away on the bench, especially protecting a lead. He has been a really good penalty killer. I don’t know how long he will be out. He has helped. He doesn’t have the stats but it isn’t always about stats. He has done a good job in his role.
Powe was placed on IR earlier today.
He has said in the past that he doesn’t care about anything but winning.
Ryan Callahan said to the Rangers website that the players were told shortly after Powe left the ice that he was doing okay.
Derek Stepan said of Powe, “he has only been here six or seven games but he has been a big part and has fit in really well in the locker room.”
According to Katie Strang, the Rangers have placed Darroll Powe on IR and called up Brandon Mashinter.
