Note: Mats Zuccarello is a game time decision tomorrow/Henrik Lundqvist will start

Mats Zuccarello4:05PM: Zuccarello said today (Rangers):

  • On tomorrow, “I don’t know. We will have to talk about and we will see.”
  • Are you cleared to play, “I don’t know.”
  • Is the pain a lot less, “Yes, I feel good, I feel that I can do most of the things out there.”
  • On team with him being back, “I think we have had a good team all year, we have good D, good goalies and we have four good lines. We have skills and speed and some heavy bodies who can do different things. I think we are a solid all around team.”
  • On Marty and the PP, “he is a world class player, probably the best player in the league the last five years. It’s gonna help us to score more goals and win more games. It’s nice for us as the younger guys to learn from him, he is a good pro player and one of the best in the game.”
  • Was Marty an inspiration for you, “obviously…he is almost as tall as me (joking) of course. He is something for sure that you look at and see that it’s possible to be a shorter and succeed and for sure he is a role model in that way and not just that but how he plays and what he does out there.”

1:35PM: It will be a game time decision whether Mats Zuccarello returns to the Rangers lineup tomorrow in Carolina according to Alain Vigneault. (Andrew Gross)

Zuccarello said that he feels ready to play but doesn’t know if he will. (Gross)

On Tuesday, Alain Vigneault said “I think he is day to day now, I don’t expect him tomorrow. It’s just a pain thing. As soon as he can handle the pain taking a pass and he can shoot the puck now, as soon as he can handle the pain. It shouldn’t be much longer.” (Vigneault)

Henrik Lundqvist will start against the Hurricanes. (Rangers)

It will be Lundqvist’s fourth straight start. He is currently on a three-game losing streak

4:05PM: Lundqvist said today (Rangers)

  • You never know if that extra point will help you to get in. You have to pay attention to how you practice, recover after games and make sure that you do what you can to help the team.”
  • Has the shock of yesterday worn off yet, “It was probably a bit closer back to normal. It was a special day to see Cally leave and it’s weird. You know it’s part of the business and how it works and when you get to know someone over the years….it’s really exciting to have a guy like Marty here, he is such a skilled player. It’s closer to be back to normal today. You reflect a little bit and then move on.”
  • On tomorrow, “I think it’s important to focus on what you have to do and if you do that the result will be there for us. You need to stop the next shot and do the right things for 60 minutes.”

Lundqvuist has had, by all accounts INCLUDING hs own, a HORRIBLE year....this is his worst statistical year of his career thus far....soo, law of averages would suggest he's going 2 "rebound" and find his gamr and elite level....however, I think since NY 1st started starting Henrik back in 06', we have always been in the top 25% in the league in overall Defensive statistics....I truly believe that 4 many years our dedication 2 defensive systems have really helped "pad" lundqvuist's stats...also, food for thought....the same can be said about Tuuka Rask as well...just look at Tim Thomas....Lastly, I love the king, but did he ABSOLUTELY HAVE 2 DEMAND OVER 8 MILL A YEAR!?!? I MEAN, tuuka Rask is making 7 mill a yr, and Pekka Rinne is making a tad under 7 mill a year....why did the king HAVE 2 HAVE the absolutely HIGHEST salary 4 a goalie in the enitr NHL....and in the ENITR NHL HISTORY!!!! I mean, he wants a very competitive team in front of him, he understands the salary cap situation, so why couldn't he have accepted a little less to help us???? ##iDONTunderstandCONTRADICTINGdesiresANDbehaviorOFathletes

You guys and everyone who thinks a team with a bonafide number 1 goaltender should ever ride a backup for a hot hand need to relax and breath. This team will be going nowhere if you ride Talbot. Hank needs to play and get settled again (seems to me he's playing further out of his net then usual like he was in the beginning of the season probably due to the larger Olympic ice). You want to go into the playoffs with Hank going on a hot streak and playing him will produce that. There's enough games left for him to find his game and us make the playoffs, and no one should want to see Talbot in the playoffs. He's a capable backup goalie, that is all, he's played a minimal amount of games. Just because he's sharp in those games doesn't mean his flaws won't quickly be exposed playing everyday. Just relax watch Hank heat up and enjoy the run.

Talbot gets the W against the blackhawks while lundqvist goes 0-3 since the Olympic break. Explain to me how it doesnt make sense to ride Talbot when he gives us the best chance to win right now.

Absolutely! I thought they where going to cut Hanks playing time cause of the Olympics....They need wins and Cam is the one providing them right now. Put Cam in Damn it!!!!

Does anyone else feel more confident when Cam is in net? Not to say he is a better tender than Henrik...but statistics have a funny way of speaking for themself.

.......

@cedes  For whatever reason, the team usually plays a sharper game in front of Talbot also.

@....... @cedes  Because they have more confidence in Hank and so play a more defensive oriented game in front of Talbot

@Chris Weber I think you've nailed it, but unfortunately this has become a hell of a problem that must be fixed if this team wants to finish in the top 8
