Read: Brady Skjei Scouts JT Miller and Steven Fogarty

A few weeks ago Rangers prospects Brady Skjei, Steven Fogarty and JT Miller attended USA Hockey’s World Juniors evaluation camp to try and prove that they deserve to represent the United States at the World Junior Championships in Ufa, Russia.

Skjei, who is likely to land a spot on defense for Team USA, spoke with Blueshirts United about his future teammates in Fogarty and Miller.

“Fogarty had a really good camp as a really good two-way center. He played well in his defensive zone, but also made plays in the offensive zone.”
“JT, obviously, is a really top talent. He can score. He works hard. And he also has that little edge to his game.”

Skjei also praised Miller’s leadership qualities.

The tournament starts on December 26th and ends on December 5th.

Teams aren't going to want to play us in December or in the playoffs for that matter, if we can some how stay in the hunt in November/December, with the physicality the players will bring on Offense, Defense and special teams, we may have a shot going far, players get worn down as the season progresses, so from seeing past games, the more physical team wins, late in the season, it's not always the most talented that wins, but the most durable/physical that does.

Joey bouncing off the walls?

Gotta love the Jets Blog!

6-10 huh?  I love when people count us out.  However, I don't understand why they would.  Our team is clearly better this year, then last.

Looking forward to pissing the haters off.

Wow - that ESPN prediction is great news! Since they are excellent at  predicting the jets record Minus 4 wins - I figure the Jets will come in around 10-6 !

The year Revis was injured, Cro Wilson and Laron Landry were phenomenal in the secondary. Why is everyone convinced that Milliner Wilson and Pryor aren't gonna be good? A very good Safety + Wilson worked out before.

Browns sign Miles Austin. Makes sense.

Too late to make it to the Daily Links, but the Star Ledger is fretting over David Harris' contract status.  http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2014/05/linebacker_david_harris_mum_on_talks_with_jets_about_possible_contract_extension.html

I'd say most people feel Harris will get a chance to re-sign for a lower salary at the end of the season and will go quietly into the night if he wants too much money.

Also, they completely misinterpreted what the receptions-per-coverage-snaps metric measures.   As Harris is in underneath zone coverage for most of his coverage snaps, it's not really that impressive that he's among the leaders there.  He actually had the 7th worst QB rating when thrown at for his position.

I like Harris and I think he's good against the run, rushing the passer and in coverage, plus the importance of his role in terms of playing every snap and wearing the headset cannot be understated.  I'd be pretty surprised if he got an extension before the season began though.

Can we get Cimini not to hit us with another article of any kind until February as well?

ESPN predicts 6 wins in 2014.  That means at least 10 for sure.

ESPN NY has to have a "Jets fan trolling" traffic goal or something in their monthly goals. Because you know it's bad when the ultimate Jets troll in Ciminadouche refers to 2 other ESPN staffers who, as per the ESPN narrative about the Jets, have nothing positive to say about the Jets.

Again, why TJB posts links to anything the Ciminadouche writes or most things ESPN NY puts out there about the Jets is beyond me....

Rex said on the fan that he's looking for a few guys who have been on the team now 2-3 years to jump out at ya and play big ..My best guess one of them is Eric Allen.

Non-Jet news:

Donald Sterling has decided to not go silently into the night, not to vanish without a fight, to live on and survive!

Translation: that batty-as-hell bigoted lunatic is going to fight the NBA's decision to ban and fine him. Yikes.

I find it ridiculous to present a mock draft for the following year. The draft just ended for this year.

Good morning Jets fans,

The 6 and 10 prediction is good bulletin board ammo to energize the 10 and 6 season (and a playoff run) I have been predicting...

so does that article claiming Patterson will play in the slot have any validity to it?

@machoking  We have a much tougher schedule this year, I think 6-10 would this years equivalent to last years 8-8, but we should do better, so at 8-8 this coming year, would still be an improvement, hopefully we can do what we did last year, when people had us at 4-12, we won 4 more games, this year hopefully, with the improvements on both sides of the ball and based on the schedule, we can win 9 or 10 games.

Brendan
Brendan

@borisjets  Well, the people convinced they won't be good are the people convinced the team won't be good. It's fitting the narrative.

There are certainly questions in the secondary, but the team held a top-10 defense until the final weeks of the season, and it's not like the secondary can play worse than it did last year for most of the season. If Dee keeps growing and they get consistent play from CB2, they'll be fine.

@jake100  Was it actually necessary to make four different posts in a row?

@bob  I think Antonio allen has a better chance. AND HILL!!!

@Brendan  On Sterling not paying the fine....doesn't the TV money go to the association; and then it's distributed to each of the teams ? Seems pretty straightforward for the NBA just holding back the 2.5 Million.

This could turn out to be the most fascinating sports court case of all time.

jsadolph

@Brendan I'm not 100% convinced that the Owners will be able to force him out either.  But if all the sponsers pull out and the Coaches and players leave or refuse to play for him that would get him out of the league faster.

Brendan
Brendan

@levi  I would think not, if Rex is saying Patterson is going to start (I assume his comments basically mean "if he can stay healthy").

Maybe they will move him inside when they bring their 4th CB onto the field, and leave him (Walls, probably) on the outside?

Bent
Bent moderator

@jake100 @Bent  He's already earning a lot less this year.  In fact, if his salary had been on the same level as last year, he'd probably be encouraged to take a pay cut.

@jake100 @kdbart

I predict that we will win between 1 & 15 games.  And I GUARANTEE that I will not be over 1 game off.

I'm looking forward to Sterlings lawyers deposing every owner and their spouses and asking them if they have EVER made a racist, or homophobic, etc, remark. Backed up by information obtained from private detectives. This will be ugly/ fascinating.

Brendan
Brendan

@jsadolph  I'm pretty sure he doesn't have much of a fight on his hands, that whole "anything detrimental to the league's image" clause or whatever the hell it is.

levi
levi

@Brendan  I assumed he would be on the outside and keep Wilson in the slot. I guess he would play less in the slot thus have a better chance of staying healthy though.

jsadolph
jsadolph

@Brendan @levi With these added CB's from the draft and FA.  Does that mean that Berry will not be brought into camp?  Or is he still injured.  I liked what little I saw from him last yr before that ACL injury.

@Bent

There will be a backroom deal made somewhere along the line.......or the NBA will drag it out until Sterling goes away permanently.

Bent

@Pete 57  Did LeBron really say he won't play next season if Sterling hasn't been removed?

Hope he stays!

@Pete 57

I would wager a majority of them have.....they would never let it go that far.

jsadolph
jsadolph

@Bent @Brendan@jsadolph

Well, Sterling could prevent that real easily by stepping down.  Or he could ruin all that he has built by forcing the issue and fighting tooth and toe nail to stay in the league(just to eventualy get run out anyway).

That and now he could sell at a premium  this yr or he could fight it and get pennies on the dollar in a year.

Bent
Bent moderator

@Brendan @jsadolph  What a shame it would be if there was a mass exodus of talented players from the Clippers and they fell back into the lottery (with the pick - unprotected - going to Boston).

joemustgo

@jsadolph  Just make the owners votes public rather than a secret ballot. The he won't get his 8.

Brendan
Brendan

@jsadolph  Well, the sponsors are already doing that, and if he doesn't leave the ones that pulled their ads temporarily will do so permanently.

Pulling huge ad campaigns from the airwaves during games of one of the best NBA teams in the 2nd biggest media market? I can't imagine how much money would be lost.

Donald Sterling called me on da phone and ask me to stick up for him. I say well deres alot of people out they not very happy.

He say I buy you a prime rib dinner with da sweet potato.

I say wait doooooohh minute. How you know I like dat one ..I really really like dat one.  but I don't know . then he say I throw in the horsey sauce Oh no! not the horsey sauce!

I say wait dooohhh minute ! How did you know I like dat one oh I really like dat one..ok I help you.

Ok guy media people I would like to say that Donald Sterling like basketball because when you throw Da ball on da floor it bounces back up..You see dats pretty good.

jsadolph
jsadolph

@Brendan @jsadolph

The Owners know that kicking out one of their Fraternity Brothers is a fine line to walk and I wouldn't be suprized if Sterling gets the 8 votes needed to keep him in the league.  Mark Cuban has already expressed concerns about forcing an owner out and he might not be the only one.  The Owners might do the right thing and boot Sterling, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

That is why I think the only sure fire way to get him out of the league is to have players and coaches refuse to play for him and Sponsers quit giving him money.

Bent

@levi @Brendan  Everyone is assuming Patterson can only play in the slot because that's how he first made his name with the Browns.  However, he started on the outside for a year with the Eagles and was on the outside quite a lot last year with Miami.

Brendan
Brendan

@levi Yeah, sorry, I tend to gloss over the blue text on Rotoworld posts (their own analysis), so I missed that last line.

levi
levi

@Brendan  Oh, I see. I thought it would be odd.

Brendan
Brendan

@levi Oh, Rotoworld is just being dumb here.

The first part of the report (the black text) is the actual report from Manish's tweet. The blue is RW's "analysis' which somehow equates "expected to start at CB" to "playing in the slot in nickel situations," because they're dumb.

levi
levi

@Brendan @levi  If there is any truth to that article it sounds as if they are fazing wilson out, which is possible as his contract is up this year I believe.

Brendan
Brendan

@levi I like the depth, they aren't forced to use McDougle right away, and if Patterson does go down, they have Walls (starting experience), Wilson (hopefully he stays in the slot) or McDougle.

I really am curious to see if they will let Lankster play some CB this year.

levi
levi

@jsadolph  I like Berry and hope they bring him back to compete.

Brendan
Brendan

@jsadolph I'd be surprised if he was. I'm fine with that, to be honest. Milliner/Patterson/Wilson/McDougle/Walls/Lankster/Dixon is already pretty damn crowded. Plus they have Dowling and Patrick, and one or two other camp fodder guys.
