Read: The Toughest Period Henrik Lundqvist Played

While the Rangers spent part of September and October in Europe preparing for the season, the team played an exhibition game against the Frolunda Indians.

Frolunda is the Swedish team that Henrik Lundqvist played for from 2000 to 2005 and led to two Swedish Elite League Championships.

On that game, Hank told the Rangers website “That first period was probably the toughest period I ever played. I was just thinking about all the years I played there.”

So, how did Mets fans like Tanaka last night?

Pretty impressive to me.........too bad the Yanks don't have a couple more pitchers like him.

Hernandez indicted for 2012 double murder.  I'd love to get some truth serum in Bill and find out how much he knew about what was going on.

No matter how you look at it the Jets signing of Vick is a big vote of no confidence for Geno. I'm also hardly surprised to start hearing stuff about Geno's mental makeup. Remember this is a man who walked out of the draft, his agents had to go fish him off the street. & get him to return to the green room, & please no excuses, Arron Rogers went threw the same exact experience. Every QB who was a candidate for a first rd pick, see Manziel was told, " don't pull a Geno ", don't let people see your emotions ect. When Geno attempted that behind the back maneuver, that was a statement. Also for the record, I have not herd one single Jet official state that Geno Smith is the starter, best I've gotten is that Geno will be tough to beat out, from Rex...

@a57se  Tanaka and pray for rain. I'm actually impressed with the Met's scrappyness.

@a57se  He's an incredible pitcher. He's definitely special.

How did you like getting swept at home?

@bobbyj  Note that 'walking out of the draft' in this case means 'leaving to go back to his hotel with a few picks left by teams that weren't going to pick him and then coming back the next day'.

Geno's been criticized for never showing emotion while playing. I don't really know what you want from him.

MM said Geno will get first snaps and nothing is going to get in the way of his development. Is there anything positive about the Jets?

@bobbyj  I think getting a stopgap veteran isn't as big of a vote of no-confidence as getting a rookie in the early rounds would be.

@bobbyj

Does anything you state mean he won't be the starter?

@bobbyj  They can't win.

Last year: "they don't have a real backup, they don't want to win."

*team signs a real backup*

This year: "they don't trust their starter, they signed a real backup!"

We don't want to coddle Geno like we did Sanchez.....

5. New York Jets (6-10): Jameis Winston*, QB, Florida State

If this scenario were to unfold and the Jets went 6-10 next season, chances are they'd be looking for a QB. There's no denying the Heisman-winning Winston's talent -- he shows good arm strength and accuracy to go with very good pocket presence and decision-making -- but his maturity and behavior off the field will be watched closely.

@Bytor @a57se  I'm tired of the Mets' scrappiness!  We have been crappy for so long that scrappy is the best we can do!!  I like what Alderson has done with starting pitching, but middle relief and hitting continues to s--k!

The Yankees pitching is in shambles other than Tanaka......I'm surprised they win any games other than when Tanaka pitches....

@Bent @bobbyj  Yup.

Mike Vick is 34 and on a one year deal.  If they wanted to go all "SHOTS FIRED" at Geno, they would have taken Johnny Manziel or Teddy Bridgewater at R1#18 and guaranteed him 4 years and 20M.

bobbyj

Vick or Geno? I think Vick will start, Rex has an incentive based contract now. I don't think that the Jets can fix the QB comp to favor Geno. Many of the Jets are young players, who grew up idolizing Vick. I myself am a big Vick fan, & I'm pulling for him, not just to be a starter, but for him to topple New England...I know that, that idea is pretty far out there, but we've seen what Vick can do in Marty's system, & Vick has the heart & will of a champion, do not underestimate him

Brendan, I stated that David Garrad would never play a snap for the Jets, the day he was signed. I told you then that force feeding Geno would do him harm, not only w/the fan base, but with his teammates. It may sound great to you & some other people that the Jets were gonna flush they're entire season for the development of one, but that it would never fly/go over well in the locker room. Players have incentive based contracts ect. To compare the careers of David Garrad & Mike Vick, just shows how little you know about Vick. I am in favor of the Vick signing, would have been in favor of it last year. So I have no idea what your talking about. Funny though, know your hearing wait until Vick is named the starter, wait to hear what the players have to say about Geno....don't know why I bother with the guy who was telling everyone how great Vlad Ducase was, & how it wasn't a big deal that we let Matt Slauson walk for next to nothing. At least I stick to what I say & don't twist stuff around. I predicted that we would finish last in our division, Geno would be over matched & Rex would be fired, how far off was I?

@Ceifus Hornswoggle "If somehow, in spite of all logic and reason, the Jets regress with their incredibly young team finally having some experience..."

That's pretty good.

@tsjc68 @Bent @bobbyj  I don't think that would be possible with the current slotting system.  The 18th pick is only going to get about $10m total.

You are a man of your word, bobbyj!

Brendan
Brendan

@jimjets Yup. Either Geno is the guy and he beats out Vick, or he's not and he doesn't. But in either scenario, you have a viable starting QB option behind center for Week 1 (barring injury, of course).

jimjets
jimjets

@Brendan @bobbyj  of course it was the right move, and the only move. It's a win-win for the jets and the fans...if vick beats geno, geno's not ready. if geno wins, he is and we have a competent back up, to go along with a competent offense and more than competent OC

@a57se For your next act are you going to defend Walter having the Jets pick #1 overall next year?

__fense

@Ceifus Hornswoggle @Brendan  And if other games that we lost bounced the other way, we'd be 11-5. The Patriots win games in the last few seconds (mainly due to ref interference), and they're great. The Jets win games in the last few seconds, and they're just lucky.

Ceifus Hornswoggle
Ceifus Hornswoggle

@Brendan @Ceifus Hornswoggle

Anything is possible, I suppose.  Think about all the games we won in the last few seconds last year.  I don't know how many it was, maybe 2 or 3, but if those bounced the other way, we'd be 5-11.  I hope we can achieve some consistency this year, even if we aren't winning every game by three touchdowns.
