This season, Carl Hagelin has gone scoreless in nine of the Rangers first eleven games. Haglein has three goals and two assists on the season and all of those point have come in the two games the Rangers have played against Tampa Bay.
Last night, Hagelin has six shots on goal and it was the sixth time this season that Hagelin has had at least four shots on goal in a game.
He told ESPN NY that nothing in his game has really changed, saying that the puck is now going in when it wasn’t before. He added, “obviously, I didn’t get off to a great start the first three or four games, but since then I’ve had chances and I’ve been able to put them in and today they went in.”
John Tortorella said after the game that while he hasn’t been on the score sheet much, Hagelin is one of the Rangers leaders in creating and being involved with offense. Tortorella added that Hagelin needs to pressure himself to score some goals as he look step take the next step as an NHL player.
On MSG, Hagelin said that he wants to score more and step up as someone who adds secondary scoring.
On the game Hagelin played, Dave Maloney said on MSG, “he was really good. It’s the same thing. When he is on top of his game he is quick on the puck. He does a lot of things really well when he uses his speed. He was out there two days ago with Kreider after practice working on their speed.
Hagelin said that if he doesn’t use his speed and move his feet on the ice he won’t be able to do anything in the offensive or defense zone.
