Recap: Alain Vigneault’s Post Game Comments

Alain VigneaultAlain Vigneault, on Hockey Night Live, made these comments

  • “There wasn’t a lot of opportunities on both sides throughout the whole game. They were able to capitalize on our mistake and we didn’t have a strong enough push back offensively”
  • On it being too early still, “at this time, with the personnel that we have available I think we have to play a little closer to the vest, which we did. We only gave them eight scoring chances but they scored four goals so, we need to be better in that area and when we get opportunities to generate offense we need to score.”
  • On Henrik Lundqvist, “I’m sure if you ask him that he knows he can be better than what he has shown. He needs to be better. From the short time I have been with him I know that he is a true professional, he had a great game in Washington, a great practice and is a hard worker and that is what we will do. We need a better push back when the other team scores the first or second goal against.”
  • “I’m not quite sure how much better we can be defensively when we only give up eight scoring chances. As low as a number as you are going to get in a hockey game. We can be better, Henrik can be better and we need to do a better job offensively. We were able to keep the puck out in Washington and we needed to do a better job tonight.”
