Read: What Happened With That John Moore Shot In The Third Period

MooreLast night, in the third period, Rangers defenseman John Moore jumped up into the rush and took a puck to the net that seemed to squeak through Capitals goalie Braden Holtby.

Moore immediately raised his hands but there was no signal for a goal on the ice and the play ended up being reviewed.

The referees discussed it, talked with the league office in Toronto and confirmed that it was not a goal.

The NHL released this statement about the play last night:

At 15:57 of the third period in the Rangers/Capitals game, video review upheld the referee’s call on the ice that John Moore’s shot did not completely cross the goal line. No Goal NY Rangers.

Moore told Katie Strang at ESPN NY that he thought he had scored but had not yet seen a replay. He added, “I’ve just got to put it through the net next time.”
