Read: When Glen Sather called about Vinny Lecavalier as told by Jay Feaster

In the book “Behind The Moves,” Jason Farris spoke with NHL General Managers past and present about how they conduct business and to tell stories about their lives in hockey.

Current Calgary GM Jay Feaster tells a story of one of his first interactions with Glen Sather:

“When I was a rookie GM, 2002, Glen would call and he’d start, ” What’s going on” What are you doing? Got anything going?’ I’d tell him what we were looking for, and then I’d say, ‘How about you? What are you looking for?’ Well, I don’t know. We need a second-line center. Let me ask you something,. That Leceevaler, Laclavier, or what’s that guy’s name that you have there, that young kid? Would you ever think of moving him?

Feaster adds that his response was “‘No, we’re not going to move him, thanks.’ That was his way of going about it.”

Sather said “I called about Vinny more or less just to check [Feaster] out a little bit, see how he handled it. He did the right thing with Lecavalier. But at that time, Vinny was bitching about everything and he wanted to get out of there. Feaster was smart and hung on to him.”

I hope Rex took some notes in how to run the clock down.

Don't meant to gloat, but I just hit the best single game bet of my life. I took the Chiefs on Thursday +2.5. the line moved massively & I then took the Colts today +1.5.  The Colts won by 1 point & I won both sides. I've NEVER hit a single game arbitrage like this!

what an awful KC defense

Eagles win big tonight I think. Saints not good against the run(which is why we beat them) & the Eagles one of best running teams in the NFL. This weather also the ball will feel like a rock in Philly. The Saint passing attack will suffer. Oh & the Saints can't run the ball either.

Staring down receivers, poor decisions, better at running than passing...who'd have thought that describes Luck in this game.

Pretty sure Brees can "keep up" with Nick Foles in his first playoff game.

Everyone seems to be picking the Eagles at home, but I find it hard to imagine them being anything other than one and done after watching them give up nearly 50 to an injury plagued Vikings squad a few weeks ago and they were in a terrible division otherwise they might not even be in the postseason to start with.  Sure, they bounced back from that but I can't get it out of my mind.  I know the Saints are bad on the road, but they're still the Saints.  Good team.

The other game is an interesting one because the Chiefs' defense went downhill in midseason due to injuries but has got stronger with everyone returning.  Houston and Hali are both active, which makes all the difference.  I like DeVito more than I like Landry, so I'm rooting for the Chiefs in this one.

@marcus81 Great first playoff game.  Those two teams need to focus on defense in this years draft.

@ww85

Some much for the 12th man in Phili.

@Bent I have a QB theory.  When in doubt, take the team with the better QB.

Brees over Foles,  and Luck over Alex Smith.

@bklyndude @marcus81 Chiefs defense is good when everyone is healthy.  They just need depth.  Flowers and Houston went down and it killed them.  Those errors by the safeties were pretty uncharacteristic.

Well BklynDude looks like you nailed it. Brees and Luck move on to next week.

Charles got injured so that won't help KC either.

@maynardfan Yeah thanks, both games were close.

Don't think I like Brees over Russell Wilson next week though.  That Seahawk defense and stadium are tough.
