In the Tenessean, David Climer writes that the Nashville Predators are backed into a situation where they need to give Shea Weber whatever he wants and lock in him long term, or they need to do what Pittsburgh did with Jordan Staal and trade him.
He writes that the Predators need to treat this situation differently than they did with Ryan Suter, “That’s why the Preds must be proactive this time. The front office waited for Suter to make the call, trusting that he would test the waters and then circle back around to the Preds. But he didn’t.”
It has been suggested that a new contract for Doan could be along the lines of 14 years and $115 million.
In terms of a trade, it has been said that Weber is the kind of guy that you pay a bounty for.
