Stats: Ryane Clowe’s Return To The Lineup

2:56PM: John Tortorella said  today that he could see right from the beginning that Clowe was going to be a “major asset” during the playoffs and Tortorella said that he thinks Clowe played well last night after being out for a while.

2:14PM: In his return to the lineup, Ryane Clowe played 12:19 and had an assist. Clowe didn’t attempt any shots but had four hits.

Clowe played 3:12 in the first, 3:56 in the second and 5:11 in the third period.

According to the NHL play by play sheet, Clowe saw shifts with:

Before the game, John Tortorella told Sam Rosen that Clowe will help out with board battles and protecting the puck. He added, that Clowe “does a lot of the little things that are so important in playoff hockey. He has played a lot in the playoffs, put up numbers in the playoffs and I think he will bolster us. I am a little concerned with the speed of the game, but just having him on the bench to have the grit and grind will be a big help to us.”
