Buzz: Updates On The Rangers Interest In Dan Boyle

7:41PM: During a chat at ESPN.com, Pierre LeBrun says that the Sharks would need to take on some of Boyle’s salary and he isn’t sure they want to do that.

Craig Custance tweeted “Tortorella knows Boyle well, that makes sense if they can make it work.”

Strang said that the Rangers would not be willing to move a player like Michael Del Zotto to get Boyle.

5:34PM: Katie Strang, at ESPN NY, confirms what Pierre LeBrun said last night about the Rangers having interest in Dan Boyle.

She says that Boyle appeals to the Rangers as a “smooth skater who can move the puck and improve the power play.”

Strang says that the Rangers are not opposed to adding a player who has a contract past this season as long as he is a “good fit.”

The Sharks, she says, are reportedly looking to add some youth to their lineup but the Rangers remain reluctant to move any of their young core players.

Another factor, due to Boyle’s large cap hit, would be the Sharks taking on part of Boyle’s remaining contract.

Boyle has a limited no-trade clause and told CSN Bay Area that he wants to stay in San Jose.
