Thomas has eight goals and seven assists in 15 games this season while the leader in the OHL, Tanner Pearson, has 19 goals and 37 assists in 25 games.
At Hockey’s Future, they list Thomas as someone “trailing the rush” this season.
The most likely cause for his struggles however, is a loss of confidence stemming from a poor showing he had for the Rangers in the 2011 Traverse City Prospects Tournament
Thomas had one goal and four assists to tie for the team lead during Traverse City.
They write that Thomas has recently displayed a new found focus in his game.
The expectations were high for him but I thought that he handled himself okay during the tournament. He wasn’t great, or as good as Ryan Bourque or Carl Hagelin, in Traverse City, but his talent definitely showed. Being invited to the Team Canada camp should give him confidence and hopefully he can play well, make the team and put up a great second half for the Generals.
