Read: The Rangers Love The Community

In the time shortly after Hurricane Sandy, Brad Richards organized a hockey clinic on Staten Island that raised $14,000 and saw his teammates Ryan Callahan, Anton Stralman, Marc Staal, Dan Girardi, Jeff Halpern, Taylor Pyatt, Steve Eminger, Carl Hagelin and Brian Boyle help out.

When asked about why the players decided to get involved with the recovery for Hurricane Sandy, Brad Richards said, Captain Ryan Callahan told SILive, “For us to come here and put some smiles on some people’s faces and raise some money, we’re happy to do it and glad we can.”

Richards added that this was a very easy thing to get involved, “We’re a tight-knit group. We live in a community and play in front of great fans and live in a great city, so it’s not too hard to make that decision to come out and do something like this.”

Don't really like the Jets chances this Sunday, due to coming off the bye.

Can anyone name me a team that has no long term starter at QB and also pays over 15 million for their WR's???

Other than Idzik's Jets, of course...

it is somewhat frustrating to constantly read articles that talk about the previous draft's unbelievably sick greatest rookie class of all time WRs.

sigh.

Does this game have the makings of a worst beating by Buffalo in Buffalo? I think Vick will be very limited in this game, they'll need to run the ball early and often in this one, if the running is ineffective in this game, I see Vick turning the ball over a lot and possibly getting hurt. I predict we see Geno Smith in the second half, having a promising game but not enough to come from behind.

Well all righty then. This guy made a lot of sense.

1). I think Jet fans want it "all" to fast.

2).  Jets need time to grow as a team.

3).  Some times you just gotta stink and rebuild the team and get a good pic.

4). OH WAIT.!  Oh if we get a new Coach or GM where gonna be a better team..

5). When it comes to the Jets its not like the cupboards are empty.

6). There maybe 4-5 QB's on the planet that are any good.

Oh wait.  Lets fire everybody Ya ya thats the ticket.

@a57se  I would say the investment at WR was to find out if Geno was a capable QB with option at QB with decent WR's to work with. You can't put below average talent out there and truly find that out.

@Pablo Bruno  I think it will be a close loss. Thou what you project is certainly not out of the question.

The Jets are a business. The Jets are also one of the highest priced tickets in the NFL. Woody Johnson does not sell his product at a discount. Just the opposite.

Loyalty is EARNED and so is TRUST. Idzik has betrayed my trust and has not earned my loyalty. His handling of the draft and free agency has been really terrible. I feel like he got it right with the Harvin trade ....but that was lucky in the sense that the Seahawks "gifted" Harvin to the Jets.....

As for Rex.....He is a great guy to get a beer with and talk about defense with. He is not smart enough to be a head coach. He is blindly loyal to the defense, and is too stupid of a human being to build an offense. The Jets will be much better off with somebody else in charge. They can hire another defensive coordinator who is aggressive such as Rob Ryan, and they will instantly be better off. Rex Ryan is blind in one eye. The Jets need a head coach who uses both eyes and builds the team on BOTH sides of the ball

Carson Palmer and 9-1; Tony Romo and 7-3

Thanks for making my point guys!

@Dave Barrett @a57se

REALLY???

How many games did Geno play with Harvin???

You just said below the following:

 " Without better QB play it doesn't matter much who the WR's are."

You don't see a bit of a contradiction there???

@bradysucks Well the Jets are about to prove that they coulda been a competitive team had Rex been allowed to run his personnel the way he wanted to. Sure he is loyal to a fault, but it was QB play more than anything else that sank this season.  We had a lack of talent as well at key positions, but we're all aware of that so no point going into it.
Idzik never believed this team could even be competitive and was in a rebuild year and didn't go shopping is how it looks to me, and I just don't think that's a successful approach. if we get rid of Rex we go back to square one. I say let Rex learn from his mistakes, of which there definitely were some, but this team, most fans, and people around the league believe in him, and that counts for something. This team is gonna play for him, they aren't laying down and if that's the case I think it's stupid to let him go. I'd like to see idzik go, but given a choice between both of them going or none, I'll take keeping 'em both. I'd hate to see him go somewhere else and use the important lessons he learned here to build a dynasty somewhere else.
I've seen your comments for a while, and your screen name and Icon, everything points to the fact that you just seem to carry a lot of negativity (no offense intended), I just mean to suggest that you might try considering the half of the glass that is full.

Rex gets better every year after loosing two seasons will make Rex even a better coach next year.. As for Idzik I prefer to give him more time. at the very least where finding out what we have in some of these younger guys and the future is still out on others who gotten hurt this year. I'm just not persuaded in what you are saying brady. Rome wasn't built in day

Can anyone name me a team that has no long term starter at QB and also pays over 15 million for their WR's???

Denver...........Peyton Manning will not be the long term starter at QB in Denver and they do pay their WR's over 15 million. So the answer to your question is still Denver even though you are now bringing up the Jets 2-8 record for some reason.

By the way,  how many teams actually have a legitimate long term answer at QB..........it's only a couple of teams (Rodgers and Luck) if you think Manning, Brady and Brees are in their twilight.

a57se
a57se

@Dave Barrett

Also , lots of other teams that aren;t spending the amount of money on WR's that we are have determined their young guys aren't any good.

Jake Locker in Tenn.

EJ Manuel in Buffalo

Brandon Weeden in Cleveland

Blaine Gabbert in Jacksonville

Terrell Pryor and Matt McGloin in Oakland

Matt Cassell in KC

Tim Tebow in Denver

RG3  and Kirk COusins in Washington

Christian Ponder in Minnesota

Mike Glennon in TB

There have been a lot more...

Face it. You don't need an All Star roster to determine if a QB can play in the NFL.

@Dave Barrett @a57se @GhostofBrowningNagle

No, our record would still be the same but we would have one less piece to fill, one more draft pick next season and 6.74 Million more in cap space next year.

And that is if we DUMP Harvin.

I supported Ryan for years. I like him personally.

He is not a good coach. Good head coaches care about what is best for the entire football team. Ryan is blindly loyal to the defense at the expense of the offense and we have 6 drafts to prove it:

Rex is a good defensive coordinator but he is also a big part of the reason why the Jets missed the playoffs the last 4 years.

It's sad that after 6 drafts with Rex Ryan you can't see the truth....

Name the talented players DRAFTED by the Jets since Rex took over in 2009?

You'll name a few defenders and zero guys on offense in six years.....It is very sad.....Rex has a great personality, but he is clearly not the sharpest tool in the shed.....Rex Ryan is one of the least intelligent head coaches in the NFL.....He 's a savant  just like in the movie RAIN MAN.....Rex is great with the defense but he is 100% mentally challenged in literally every other relevant area necessary to build a good team...

@Disgruntled Jets Fan  What ever happened to that kid Steiny? Been about 2 years since I had been on this blog before last month. Forgot all about him till you brought up the name.

Dave Barrett

@a57se @Dave Barrett  The 3 INT's to start the Bills game was over the top. There was no choice but to bench. The Harvin move also begins building a bridge to the chance of a reduced contract next season allowing him to remain a Jet. Some of those teams are worse then the Jets and others have talented WR's on rookie deals. The Jets WR payroll will look different next season.

bob

@bradysucks @bob

I also seen the Giants wait patiently to develop their players into really great players in time. And sometimes it took a while. there are a hole lot of teams getting it wrong..however as of late our backfield and new names looks better with the adjustments made by Rex...Rex just made something out of nothing...

a57se
a57se

@Dave Barrett @a57se

Really? What kind of discount do you think Harvin will give the Jets?

I think he'll want more than the 7 million we'll be paying Decker...

so that would be at least 15 million tied up in those two guys alone...

That is ridiculous for WR's when you don't have a QB.

a57se
a57se

@Dave Barrett @a57se @GhostofBrowningNagle

He was desperate because of the heat on the team from losing.

No team spends these kinds of resources on their WR's unless they are in contention for a SB...

We don't even have a viable QB.

Dave Barrett
Dave Barrett

@a57se @Dave Barrett @Pablo Bruno  Geno slid all the way out of the 1st round and that was without off field baggage. I don't see Winston falling that far but I also don't see him going in the top 5 and possibly even the top 10.

It has been 6 YEARS  since Rex took over as head coach.

Please name the offensive players drafted by the Jets since Rex Ryan took over 6 years ago who you think are good players that are currently on the team?

I'd say 6 years is being patient

Dave Barrett

@a57se @Dave Barrett @GhostofBrowningNagle  The Decker and Kerly deals are very reasonable and Harvin will be playing for less next year or playing else where. It would be nice to have minimal spending at WR but also decent talent but that's just not the case right now.

They started rebuilding 2 years ago Brady..

and now we have young players  for many years to come on D side in place.  We have pieces and are getting closer to being a forminal team. Were close.
