Tweet: Why Yesterday’s Meeting Was Actually Positive

Adam Rotter I’ve been clamoring for this since that first secret meeting. Nothing good gets done when they announce their meetings, where they are going to be, and have press conferences after them. I think we would all be fine if there was radio silence for a week, or they lied about or denied meeting, and then they announced a deal.

In the end we all want hockey back ad that would be the best way to get it.

"Ryan might still be one of the game’s best defensive minds, but he has struggled to find ways to win with little talent on both defense and offense."

So... we should be looking for a coach who doesn't struggle to find ways to win with no talent? How is this the reason he loses his job, unless he was set up to fail by the GM?

Totally disagree Bassett.

The Jets did do enough to win.

They out played the Pats on their own field but the Pats were given the win by the Jets lack of talent.

If you can't see that Rex is doing what it takes to win with what he has then you either don't want to see it and/or have an alterior motive for pushing for his dismissal.

Even after all the adversity flung their way this locker room is holding themselves accountable and standing behind one another. That starts with the coach and should be commended and respected rather than dismissed and attempted to fracture.

That's one of the reasons I am passionate about the Pats rivalry. I am envious of their commitment to team and each other. They have the complete support of their fan base, local media, national media and business partners. If you don't think that doesn't translate into the locker room you aren't facing facts.

Jets had some good moments such as the running by Ivory and Smith, but that is not good enough to overcome team problems in the game .... like Red Zone productivity and bad individual plays like the 2 pt conversion or Allen's defense. Unfortunately I am not sure the Jets are capable of better. Every week there will be problems like these. I can't imagine what would happen if Ivory missed a game or got hurt.

Why does Rex keep declining penalties to make it second and ten instead of first and 20? Is there something I don't know about that makes this a good decision? Is it due to the lack of CB's that getting an incompletion is so hard to come by?

Floyd Toucanet

The playcall for the 2 point conversion was bizarre. Why take away the threat of running when you were running at will and getting 2 yards should have been easy. Made it too easy to defend.

The Jets problems in the red zone are because of a lack of talent at WR.

resign Rex now to shut up all the munchkins in the media from asking it over and over -------scumbags

That was about as good as it gets for this team.

I am proud of the way they played!

They went toe to toe with NE and didn't back down all game.

Brian, I think the Jets red zone issues are more team related than on any one player.

Geno threw a perfect TD pass to Kerley for a TD but it was wiped away by to me a questionable holding call.  The ref from behind the call it.  While the head ref with a better look called nothing.

I was hot on the Amaro pass.  But thought Geno played pretty well in the red zone overall tonight when given the opportunity.

Hopefully he continues playing smart football and takes what the defense gives us with his legs and his arm.

I think the best thing was how much better he played in the last minute this week compared to last week.  Taking check downs to create a rhythm and move the team.

Hopefully, Allen does not singlehandedly give up 17 points next week. I criticize Wilson a lot but this game by Allen was worst than anything I have seen from Wilson, which is saying a lot.

FWIW Wilson actually played a very solid game.

Biggest and most glaring weaknesses going into off season was CB and WR and Idzik came away with one nice WR and 21 million in da bank!! not enough Unacceptable!! Idzik must go!! His overall draft sucked too

Antonio Allen may be cut or see some serious time on the bench.  Rex was hot about is screw ups after the game.

I've been Jets fan all my life and all I have to say is that if Rex goes, so do I. It was quite clear what holes existed with the Jets (wr and secondary) and they did absolutely nothing to address it. Rex leaves his heart on the field every week and anyone that thinks he is a bad coach doesn't know what they are talking about. If Rex goes there will be even more opposing team fans at Metlife in the coming years. They should go out and fet a god damn #1 wr and a secondary so we can stop wasting the talent we have on defense. If Idzik has alterior motives for not spending money he should get fired tomorrow.

I didn't get to see the game tonight, as I had a prior engagement that I had to attend. But, a friend told me that on the Folk kick that was blocked, a penalty should have been called on NE for lining up over the center. Any truth to this?

You know what sucks I am willing to bet the following happens: this team goes 4-12, Rex get's fired, Woddy chews Idzik's ass for his failures and tells him he has a short leash, Idizk hires his coach, with pressure on him Idizk goes out and gets DT ,Iuptia, and Maxwell, in the draft they get Winston and having an easier schedule next year with the weak NFC east the jets go 11-5 and this new coach gets showered in praise on him while he has a talented team Rex deserved

It doesn't matter who coaches this fu****g team!!!  All you cok suc*ing fans who want Rex fired - eat a d*ck!!

The hell with Idzik!  I won't support this team or whoever he gets to coach it.  IT HAS NO TALENT.

Rex is the only thing keeping this team competitive.  NO WR'S NO DB'S.

THIS SUCKS! THIS IS THE WORST YEAR I HAVE EVER SEEN AS A FAN.

FU** THIS!!!

We would of won this game if we had a #2 WR for Geno to throw to and some CB's to not give up those two garbage TD's on the first drive and on the 3rd and 14 thank you Idzik

Totally set up to fail by Idzik. When he gets him guy he'll spend that idle salary cap dough. Do we trust him with a high draft choice?

@jaym Dean Blandino  head of NFL officials just explained on NFL network LB was giving a line call and officials routinely move players from covering the center due to safety precaution.

jmactheman
jmactheman

@jaym Per Football Zebras, the Umpire for this game is Carl Paganelli, who is normally on Ron Torbert's crew. Paganelli has 15 years in the league and worked the Super Bowl last year. That means that the NFL thought he was the best Umpire in the league last year. Now maybe he's regressed to the mean this season. Or maybe the NFL just hires terrible officials.

If he pushed a Jet out of the way, the league office would have suspended him by now.

Eric Cartmenez

The best is some idiot commented on there "it was so the ref could see the center..".. Gee, why don't they do that every play then?

@a57se

I have been humbled in my support of Allen.  I just did not see him melting down to this degree.  It was disgusting.

He has been making terrible mental errors all season.  Yet somehow he outdid himself tonight with three huge errors in one game for a total of 17 points.

@Kyle Ely  That's what happens my friend, you hit the nail on the head, it's no different then politics, it's not about making decisions that improve the situation, it's about manipulating the system and getting praise for success that's a result off of decisions made by others, The only thing that we can be thankful to Idzik is for Chris Ivory, man this guy can run.

We just need a big reciever. I like kerley and decker, but a big body at the reciever position is needed for our offense.

This is what becomes frustrating with Jets fans...just gotta get on someones' jock when they lose to a better team...

@lagoo Nah, he said it wasn't a stack the middle tactic, he said pre-snap one of their linebacker peeps came up over Purdum and then the ref actually ushered him away instead of throwing the flag. Idk. I don't trust NFL officials at all these days.

As a head coach, definitely. He took Mangini's team to the playoffs twice, Mangini couldn't get them in once. As a GM I'd take Mangini over Rex, sure.

@a57se @harold

This was a great team effort by the Jets and I have applauded them all night.

It was just sad to see mental errors lose a game we controlled for most of the night.

I like Allen and think he can bounce back. However he needs to play with his mind and his heart.  I love his effort and heart, I am not beating on the kid. I just wish he would have had the one or two bone headed plays. But the one before the half was the one I find hard to get over because it was effort.  He just stopped running and played it very lazily.
