Read: We Aren’t At The Critical Point Yet

In the Toronto Star, Damien Cox writes that it’s time to drop the idea that the talks between the NHLPA and the NHL are at a critical point and that the season is on the verge of being cancelled right now.

He notes that the 2004-05 lockout saw the season cancelled on February 16th and the 1994-95 lockout was ended on January 11.

Cox writes, “We’re not even in mid-November yet. Given history, how can anyone possibly say we’re at a make-or-break point? That’s just phony drama, mostly generated by the media, with little basis in fact.”

He notes that the meetings between the two sides this week are the kind of talks that should have started in August but didn’t because of the power and strength that each side wanted to show.

Michael Grange writes at Sportsnet that people are describing the talks to him as “slow and labored.”

Grange adds “This week would have been a good week if it was the second week of September or maybe even the second week of October. But we’re in November now, so there’s certainly cause for concern.”

for everyone to be convinced Rex's time is up, Jets have to fall completely on their face, Idzik should go with him too, too little talent has been drafted over the time he has been here, at least he acquired Ivory, drafted Richards and Amaro, but that's just 3 good players in 2 years, can't survive with that type of progress, clean house and get a top competent GM and no meddling from Woody

Rex looks like he's making a hostage tape in that picture.

Would anyone here trade a draft pick for Johnny Manziel?

Definitely not playing like a Jet.

Time to jettison head coach - now.  Nothing to lose.

What do you think REX RYAN is going to do with Manziel?  Has he EVER developed a young QB???  No.  Ryan cannot even get the best out of the likes of VICK.  This is a coaching problem.

@Hanknaples

Right, because the coach will help not having a competent quarterback.  A coach will get us a passable secondary.  Hank.  Wake up, man.

@MikeFrancesser @Hanknaples How many scapegoats will it take for you to understand this is a Rex issue?  He's a complete failure and no the guys don't play hard for him.  God help us if that's what you call playing hard.

@MikeFrancesser @Hanknaples : WAKE Up indeed.  Coaching is EVERYTHING for competitive teams in the NFL.  The talent is very serious.  Dallas used to buy the best talent for years, did NOTHING.  Wake up to the reality Ryan is not a sound HC.  Putting in Harvin to return a kick off?  With a  trick play?  After a week with the TEAM?  This is a circus, not a well coached team.

How many GM's, OC's, DC's, and QB's do we need to work our way thru before its Rex's fault?

"How many GM's, OC's, DC's, and QB's do we need to work our way thru before its Rex's fault?"

Nick....this is a PERFECT question that MUST be asked every single time our failure of a HC tries to apologize for his team's performance !!!

@nick321 Well said - why is there so much denial.  So we keep hearing Ryan needs this, that, etc.  So if he needs a new OC, a new DC, a new QB, new DBs, etc., what does Ryan do?  In reality it is RYAN who cannot manage a sound TEAM, cannot produce a healthy environment for a team to grow - talent to develop - with focus, discipline, consistency, etc.

I loved your point. It always seems that Rex needs EVERYTHING working in order to win. The bears didnt have anyone in tbe secondary and he couldnt take advantage of it.
