TSN reports that earlier this week, former Vancouver Canucks captain and NHLPA president Trevor Linden said on the radio that he wouldn’t be surprised if the NHL missed the first couple of months next season.
“When you talk about ownership, especially in the States, they look at October and November as just dead – really tough months for them. They’re dealing with Major League Baseball, the World Series, the NFL, so their season starts in December and works through January, February, March. So if they’re going to miss anything, they want to miss those months.”
The NBA started this past season on Christmas day and it has been speculated the NHL could start next season around Thanksgiving.
Bob McKenzie tweeted yesterday that he thinks that the league will miss the first couple of months next season.
