News: The NHL Lockout Is Over/MOU Signed

10:21PM: Chris Johnston says the MOU has been signed and that the NHL lockout is over.

10:20PM: It is believed that the MOU has been signed and the schedule will be released momentarily.

10:06PM: Michael Russo tweets that the MOU should be completed and signed “very soon.”

8:57PM: Elliotte Friedman tweets that training camps may not start until Monday and teams may only get three or four days of practice, after physicals are taken, before the opener.

He adds “HIGH intensity games. Increased injury risk to players. This is far from ideal.”

7:59PM: Chris Johnston and Pierre LeBrun tweet that the MOU is still expected to be signed tonight and camps are still expected to open tomorrow.

1:58PM: Darren Dreger tweets that the MOU “should” get done today and Bob McKenzie notes that the belief is that the document will get signed “sometime” today.

9:51AM: The NHLPA announced that the discussions to finalize the MOU will continue this morning.

8:40AM: Bob McKenzie and Pierre LeBrun both note that the lockout will not be lifted until both sides sign the Memorandum of Understanding.

McKenzie notes that the MOU is expected to be signed today, though Brian Lawton tweets that it is taking longer than expected to write up the memo and it may not be signed until tomorrow.

Bill Daly told Michael Russo that the lockout will not be lifted until the memo is signed.

McKenzie adds “It’s my expectation some GMs are sitting on trades/signings that are done or close to done and as soon as gun goes off, there’ll be activity”

@bradysucks That's an intriguing draft. I'd be happy with that. Who were the other pass rushers available in R2?

Nice video Hank...

Thanks for the honesty this morning verifying the OBVIOUS to the denier's......who deny the lack of talented YOUTH on offense and the need to rebuild the Jets offense through the draft with high round picks.....

It won't do us any good.....but I appreciate it

I look forward to a video of the Jets drafting an offensive player in the first 2 rounds this year....

That would be an Oscar winner for me....lol

So we end the season in Buffalo---checking airfare to Detroit.

So if we are starting the season vs. Cleveland we ought to spice things up a little and trade down with them in the draft.

Marvel

If he doesn't already ... We have a problem

Marvel
Marvel

I am strongly against trading down

6 is just high enough get a top prospect.

@Marvel

It depends on who's there and who's not, though.   There could be a lot of scenarios where trading down...a little...in the 8-12 range...could still get us a premium guy AND an extra 2nd round pick, which could be huge.

@Marvel

The best players we have were all taken lower than the top 10 (Wilkerson, R1#30, Richardson, R1#13, Revis, R1#14, Harrison, UDFA, Decker, R3#87, Ivory, UDFA, Mangold, R1#29, Marshall, R4#119).

Just sayin'.

Inside the top 10, we have more misses (Sanchez, Gholston, etc.) than hits (Ferguson).

Marvel
Marvel

Winston

MM

Cooper

White

Beasley

Fowler

Williams

All elite We should be in good shape at 6.. Even Gregory who I like, but the drug thing... Yea

Marvel
Marvel

Can't let that dictate today tho. Of course you find good players everywhere even Undrafted but for me ? I'll take 6 this year. Deal with the rest some other time.

@Marvel

I think Beasley, Fowler and Williams are the three guys I'd have a hard time passing up, but does Macc feel the same way about them?

I doubt Macc's taking a QB in the first, period, and I think he believes he already has his #1 WR in Marshall.   Besides, if we pass on Cooper we have a shot at White, and if we miss out on them we can get Parker.

And if he's going OL,..a real possibility, I think...then 6 might be a little early...depending on how things fall.   If he can move down a few slots and still land Scherff or Collins and grab an extra high pick...and maybe he gets his wedge rusher in the 2nd.

It can work all sorts of ways.   I'm really interested to see how Macc works.

@tsjc68

bbbb-ut your other half Brendan says the new regime has nothing to do with the old regimes record of failures......except of course when it's convenient for the two of you to bring up the past to suit your current agendas...... (trading back)

predictable

wasn't boss hogg a top 10 pick?

Draft day is always exciting but this year... Gonna be some "omg" moments

@bradysucks Sorry that two sentient beings might differ in opinion slightly even though overall they tend to agree on bigger issues.

I think if you asked him instead of being an obnoxious baby, tsjc would tell you that he doesn't think those picks dictate the future, but rather point out that you don't necessarily have to pick in the top 10 to have a better chance at a star. He's been pretty clear that he's a fan of trading back and accumulating more draft picks (lotto tickets).

And no, Sheldon was 13th. Dee was 9th, something you constantly forget when doing your incorrect "Revis didn't get them Sheldon" argument from the past.

@Marvel

Agree.   I was stoked over the regime change, and stoked again by FAcy.   I'm expecting to get stoked yet again in this draft.   We all have favorites...but there's a good 10-12 guys I'd be delighted to land any one of...and I'll trust in Macc n' Bowles to have a plan and a reason for whomever they eventually pick.

CAN'T WAIT!.

Brendan

@tsjc68 Oh, I'd love to watch Mangold toss him around Week 1.

Lol

But Lovie hates Glennon so I doubt it.

Wow .... This is actually rather interesting ... Or it has the potential to be.

Brendan

@Marvel Until Whisenhunt mucks it up by sticking with METT and drafts a WR or something.

tsjc68

@Marvel

I'm gonna laugh when the Bucs and Titans take Winston and Mariota and this game is still Glennon vs. Mettenberger.

Marvel
Marvel

If Perriman ,DGB and Agholor go round 1 that should push a very nice prospect into our neighborhood in round 2. Hopefully a couple RBs get taken before that pick too.

Marvel
Marvel

Yea , maybe the injury has something to do with it Brendan but he's losing love in the mocks.

tsjc68

@Marvel

I would love love love it if two or three runningbacks went in R1, as that would push 3 better players down to us.

Brendan
Brendan

@Marvel Is Jaelen Strong becoming the forgotten man? I doubt NFL teams forget about him, but damn...dare to dream.

@Brendan @Marvel

Very true.   But I can't imagine ALL these guys going in round 1...ahead of Strong...but would be very nice if they did and we got a shot at Strong in Rd 2.

Marvel
Marvel

But wasn't only 1 MLB getting mocked early/1st round ? The UCLA player.

So... we open again the Browns and finish in Buffalo?    The latter should be interesting if either team has a playoff berth on the line.

@hazard2012

I hope not...playing in Buffalo in Jan. is not fun for anyone.

Rex might be coaching for his job at that point, SO EXPECT THEM TO BE FIRED UP.

Marvel
Marvel

At this rate we may be forced to take WR at 6 before they are all gone during our 2nd at bat.

Marvel
Marvel

Have a feeling strange things are gonna happen prior to 6. Could see us having our pick of a prime defensive player Brendan.

Not a bad thing. Just a feeling.

(Fwiw I took what you said about White/press coverage into consideration , he'd be starting out against 2nd and 3rd CBs, he'd learn.... I'd still take him at 6 if Cooper was off the table )

Brendan
Brendan

@Marvel I think the Jets end up looking at Leonard Williams. I just have a weird feeling he's going to be there and not Beasley/Cooper/White/QB's. Or maybe Fowler instead of White.

Marvel
Marvel

Me too , for som reason I could see the big names (they all are big names, but the sexier ones ) going before 6.

@Marvel

Honestly, I'd think in that situation we'd really stick with the 3-4, not do some crazy 5 DL thing.

Williams - Wilk - Sheldon

With those 3 being the 3, we could truly rush 3 and blitz from obscure random places all the time.

It would mean Snacks is the odd man out, but he probably has pretty solid trade value. So maybe take Williams, then trade our 2nd plus Snacks to move back into the 1st.
