Read: Europe May Be Closed For Business

In the Toronto Sun, Terry Koshan writes that Europe may not be that open for North American players to play in if there is a lockout.

Slots to import players, from 2-7 depending on the league, is a big reason why players may not be able to go to Europe as many of those slots have been filled for this season.

He writes that while the KHL may open up to bring in North American players, a league like the Swedish Elite League probably wouldn’t.

Koshan does add “it’s hard to see players departing for Europe when there is a possibility they could be back in North America before the end of the winter to resume their NHL careers.”
