According to Andy Strickland of True Hockey, The NHLPA has countered the NHL offer of 6 year contracts, seven if you are re-signing your own player, with an offer of eight years contracts across the board.
He writes that the players are still concerned with the salary variance from year to year, which the NHL proposed to be 10%. The NHLPA has previously proposed 25%.
Strickland also notes that the NHL is holding firm at $60 million for the 2013-14 salary cap and that the players are moving in that direction.
He notes that there is reason to believe that the players have come off of their demand for a cap on escrow.
