Stats: The Rangers PP lately

RANGERS121Since January 23 (16 games), the Rangers are 6 for 44 on the PP and four of those six goals came in a three game span.

In that time the Rangers have attempted 129 shots:

  • 44 blocked
  • 20 that missed the net
  • 65 on goal

On Sunday against San Jose, the Sharks had more shots on goal short handed (5) than the Rangers did on goal (4).

In the last four games the Rangers have one goal on 14 PP shots.

Derek Stepan said on Monday, “our PP has been big for us at times this year and when you find yourself in a game where you can’t score goals you need to go back to the basics, keep our confidence and not get frustrated. We need to shoot the puck and make plays if we can make them. (Rangers)

Stepan added that it gets tougher to score on the PP as the year goes on because all of the PK units have been working together all season long. (Rangers)

Joe Micheletti says that the PP has been an issue lately and that when you are struggling to score at 5 on 5 you need your PP to come through.
