During his post game news conference last night, Pete DeBoer was asked about how the goal that Rick Nash scored went in the net.
DoBeoer said, “their guy was going to the net and kind of took Marty out a little bit. I believe that the ref was calling a penalty on us, which I didn’t understand for pushing him into Marty, I didn’t think that was the case and by the time Marty recovered from being bumped into the puck was in the net.” (Devils)
Brodeur said after the game that he didn’t know if it should be a penalty but guys get paid to go to the net and that is what Kreider did. (Star Ledger)
Jaromir Jagr said after the game that Kreider hit Brodeur, he wasn’t pushed into him yet the penalty was called on the Devils. (NY Times)
Stan Fischler then asked DeBoer if he could explain the two penalties the Devils got in the third, Jaromir Jagr for cross checking Anton Stralman and Andy Greene for tripping Rick Nash, because it seemed like the Rangers took dives.
DoBoer said, “we have an embellishment call that we have been told repeatedly would be made and I don’t know why it wasn’t.” (Devils)
