Watching this video of an interview on what PJ thinks about the Knicks two years ago is so telling.  You can just see it in his eyes/heart that he wanted to get a job here.

Damn.  Bobcats won.

Seems our only shot will be Atlanta.  That sucks.

If the playoffs started today, we got some nice match ups.

East: Washington/Bulls Toronto/BK

West: Clippers/Warriors Rockets/Blazers

Phil Jackson is amazing.  I was proven right again.  I knew this team wouldn't start winning until major change happened.

I wonder what will happen when Phil and CAA's Leon Rose sit down to negotiate Melo's contract. We will see how much power CAA has very soon.

Reading about Jim Clemons, played for red Holman, assistant under Phil jax for many years.

Good choice for lead assistant.....

Would any of you guys take a shot at the guys that were amnestied recently, for the right cash?

@rgm891 It was obvious (though haters would take what he said earnestly) that he had just been spurned for the job over Woodson and he wasn't happy about it.

THis hiring now confirms it.

@Knicks_Fanatic  I was just thinking the same exact thing earlier today man.  Does this affect Melo's decision at all?  The lack of power of the CAA

@carl hill

Amnesty can only be used on players that signed before the new CBA in 2011-12 and are still with their original teams. So there really aren't going to be too many players left.

@Knicks_Fanatic @Jaime But also on the road at Charlotte.  They've been awful on the road this year.

rgm891
rgm891

@carl hill  Jeff Teague would have to average like 40 20 assist and 10 bounds to give the hawks a chance in that series.  Haha

@carl hill @rgm891 Cavs have put together an impressive road trip thus far.  Wins in Phoenix and Golden State.

rgm891

Haha for sure man. Cavs been playing solid recently. The catz are not going to be caught. The hawks are our chance we have to make the playoffs.

@rgm891

The pitfall in getting Melo to take less is not to insult him with a lowball offer.  The minute the clock strikes 12 on July 1, 2014, Melo will be getting offers for the full max. So when Phil asks for a discount, Leon Rose will say 10 teams are offering the max. How do you negotiate against that?

Kobe took $23.5 million per year, but that was an extension. The Lakers weren't bidding against any other team. Phil will be tested early in this deal.

carl hill
carl hill

@rgm891 Well, seeing that Melo is on record saying he will take less, it shouldn't be that hard...or, he is going to come off as a fraud...he can't, in good faith, say that he isn't impressed with the Rings hiring...

@Knicks_Fanatic @carl hillI am speaking of the guys who were amnestied recently, you know, 2 of them play for the Clippers, they can sign anywhere this Summer..

I know that dude, I thought dude was implying that Phil being on board some how has affected our current streak

Btw, Stat in the starting lineup and JR too for that matter has made all the difference. ..Woody finally starting his best 5

Hey u never know man. 24 million is beyond ridiculous. PJ stated kobes contract was beyond terrible. I know kobe is older but maybe we can get a bit more of a discount but probably not.

Sandro Guedes

@dagawd

I agree that Melo isn't worth 24 mil a year, but it seems like that's the way the Knicks are going.

If I'm Phil Jackson, my offer would be 75 mil for 4 years. Take it or leave it.

dagawd
dagawd

Great and Smart but MelO isn't worth that

Sandro Guedes
Sandro Guedes

@Knicks_Fanatic @rgm891

You don't have to negotiate against that.

The Knicks just need to offer Melo exactly the same amount of money that other teams can.

That's 96 mil for 4 years.

That way, the Knicks are assuring Melo that he isn't losing money, and Melo are assuring the Knicks that he wants to be in NY, because, given the same paycheck, he'd choose us.

It's an easy situation, if the Knicks are smart about it.

@carl hill  Haha exactly man.  I don't see how this agency can change anything in terms of his decision-making.

carl hill

@Knicks_Fanatic @carl hill But, this was BEFORE the Rings hiring, correct? my opinion is that it was the reason he came out with that, pressuring Dolan to get ish done, or else..

NEW YORK -- New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony said in a recent interview that he wants to opt out of the final year of his contract this summer and test free agency.

"I want to be a free agent," Anthony told the New York Observer. "I think everybody in the NBA dreams to be a free agent at least one time in their career. It's like you have an evaluation period, you know. It's like if I'm in the gym and I have all the coaches, all the owners, all the GMs come into the gym and just evaluate everything I do. So yes, I want that experience."

Anthony said Thursday that he will test free agency. However, he said not to make any assumptions about him leaving the Knicks.

"Does that mean I'm not coming back to New York?" Anthony said. "Not at all."

Anthony did repeat that he'd like to be "pursued."

"Guys would like to have that situation and just see what it's about," he said. "It doesn't mean that just because somebody wants to be that, that they're going to leave. Me leaving never came across in my mind. [Free agency is] just an experience that I thought would be an experience I'd want to experience."

@rgm891? wherever he goes, he is not guaranteed anything, and, in 2015, with the right moves, the Knicks should be as competitive as any other team..

rgm891
rgm891

@carl hill @rgm891 @Knicks_Fanatic  If Melo actually cares about winning he's def going to opt out.  He stated he wants nothing to do with 2015 and want to be in the best situation to win come next year.  In terms of free agency I am saying.

carl hill
carl hill

@rgm891 @carl hill@Knicks_Fanatic That's what i am saying, have him NOT opt out, and play out 2014/15, then, if he still wants out, he can still get all of his loot through a sign and trade..that would put mad pressure on him to put up, or, shut up..

rgm891
rgm891

@carl hill @rgm891 @Knicks_FanaticYeah exactly.  He even stated he's def opting out, but this was before PJ situation, so who knows

rgm891
rgm891

@carl hill @Knicks_Fanatic  I dont believe Melo is going to sign for the year.  He stated he wants nothing to do with 2015.  He's going to sign his max deal probably now or hopefully PJ can convince him to opt in which will be incredible.  But he's def going to opt and sign that max deal he's looking for.

carl hill
carl hill

@Knicks_Fanatic @carl hillTell him to come back for a year, then, in 2015, if he doesn't like where this is going, agree to do a sign and trade to the team of his choice..

carl hill
carl hill

@Knicks_Fanatic @carl hill That's all that i am saying, there should be a few guys that Rings could swoon, who will be willing to sign for a year, knowing that loot opens up the following year, and, if they deserve it, can get a longer deal...

Knicks_Fanatic
Knicks_Fanatic

@carl hill @Knicks_Fanatic

The taxpayer MLE is a $3.1 million and can be a three year deal. We used it to sign Kidd and then MWP-Prigioni last year. Other than that, we can only offer the veteran's minimum. So yes, anyone on the cheap is an option.

carl hill
carl hill

@Knicks_Fanatic @carl hillLol, i know their situations, just saying that guys who were amnestied and who will be free agents this Summer, can possibly be had on the cheap, one year contracts, to redeem themselves, those are not the only 2 guys who will be available, they are just examples..PG position can be handled in 2015, ..or, this Summer with a trade...

madskills
madskills

@Knicks_Fanatic @carl hill  Prigs may not even come back and Felton may be in jail. I would see if we can scoop someone like DJ Augustine but he'll probably get a better deal elsewhere.

Knicks_Fanatic
Knicks_Fanatic

@carl hill @Knicks_Fanatic

You mean Davis and Granger. They were bought out. We only have $3.1 million to spend with our taxpayer MLE. That might get Davis, but Granger should see more than that.

Personally, I'd try to get an upgrade at PG. Prigioni is going on 37 and Felton is unreliable.
