On the MSG Post game show last night, no Ranger was willing to admit that they overlooked the last place Panthers and that no matter where a team falls in the standings, everyone is a tough match up.
Mike Keenan said on MSG, that games against depleted, struggling teams can be “very scary” because it’s difficult to have everyone engaged.
Dave Maloney said on MSG, that the Rangers were never able to dictate the pace of the play against a team that “you need to be better than.”
Marian Gaborik said that the Rangers were the better team, but couldn’t find a way to execute.
During his post game wrap up, John Giannone said that the subject being talked about in the Rangers locker room is consistency in all areas, shift to shift, period to period and game to game. He added, this is a must win two point game as you get down to the final teen number of games. They thought they had cured some of their problems.”
In a tweet sent last night, Giannone said “Thurs loss was troubling on many levels and will either awaken or define this team.”
Sports Club Stats has the Rangers with a 55.8% chance of making the playoffs.
