In the NY Post, Larry Brooks writes about how the Rangers may have solved their depth problem this week when they brought up JT Miller and re-activated Chris Kreider and Ryan Callahan from the injured list.
The Rangers split up their top line of Marian Gaborik, Brad Richards and Rick Nash and on Thursday they benched Brian Boyle and created a new third line that included Chris Kreider, JT Miller and Ryan Callahan.
Brooks writes, “under the best of circumstances, the three lines each present a blend of speed and forecheck ability; of down-low work and sniping. The alignment presents balance that did not appear attainable a week ago when Miller was in the AHL and Kreider, who didn’t get much quality ice time the first week of the season, was recovering from a foot injury.”
The Rangers lines on Thursday saw Taylor Pyatt join Richards and Gaborik. Nash was on the second line with Carl Haglein and Derek Stepan. The USA line was the third line and Darroll Powe replaced Mike Rupp on the fourth line with Arron Asham and Jeff Halpern.
