Following the Rangers win over the Islanders, Brian Leetch said on MSG that the Rangers mission last night of picking up two points was accomplished and the team can feel good about themselves as they look to bundle wins together.
Ryan Callahan added that the time of alternating good games and bad games has to be over if the Rangers want to move forward.
John Tortorella, during his press conference on MSG, said “I still think there is a lot of sloppiness in our game, but the key thing is finding ways to get points. This is a good group of guys and I think they are trying to play better. Quite honestly I thought we played better 5 on 5 in Jersey, but we win 4-1 tonight. We didn’t chase the game, we killed the penalties and you never know how you are going to win or lose in the NHL.”
Adam Rotter: It is all a matter of consistency. The Rangers played well against the Flyers last Tuesday and then were drubbed by the Penguins. They played well against Tampa Bay on Saturday, but weren’t good enough against the Devils. The Rangers were good last night and the PK was in top form, but if they can’t put forth a similar effort against Tampa Bay on Sunday, it won’t mean much.
