Read: How The Lines Are Now/How They May Be

The Rangers, on Saturday, used lines that consisted of:

  • Marian Gaborik, Brad Richards, Rick Nash
  • Carl Hagelin, Derek Stepan, Taylor Pyatt
  • Arron Asham, Brian Boyle, Jeff Halpern
  • Mike Rupp, Benn Ferriero, Stu Bickel

The Rangers saw their first success at finding a second scoring unit with the Hagelin, Stepan, Pyatt line and an effective third line with Asham and Halpern both playing over 13 minutes.

In the Daily News, Pat Leonard writes that if the Rangers top six works like it did on Saturday then John Tortorella may be able to slot Ryan Callahan, when he returns in 10 days or so, next to Brian Boyle on the third line.

Adam Rotter: The what line does someone play on when he returns question is the cousin of the who comes out of the line up when someone returns question. Both are questions that can’t be answered now because we don’t know who will be hurt, struggling, on fire etc, when Callahan and/or Chris Kreider return. They are fun to talk about and speculate, but the Rangers haven’t been nearly consistent enough to have players locked into permanent slots.
