Read: Expect Sloppy Play All Year

John Tortorella, Wojtek WolskiOn the latest episode of Behind The Bench, John Tortorella explained just how important having a proper training camp is to a team, but more importantly to his team.

Tortorella said that while all teams are in the same situation, the camp is so important to the Rangers. He credits all the sloppy play and silly mistakes to not having a camp and says that those things won’t be able to be settled during the season.

He added that the camp is especially important time to focus on team concept and conditioning.

Lots to like tonight.

We scored on O, D & ST.    We moved the ball.   We didn't turn the ball over, and also had two INT's, including a Pick 6.   We controlled the game.   Starters looked good.   Another game where our OL's...in aggregate...didn't allow much pressure.    (Has Fitz been touched this preseason?)  We also know that Fitz can throw the ball downfield when he wants to, though the timing needs work.

Downside:  Penalties continue to be a problem.   Hoping William's knee isn't serious.  That would be a big blow.

Is there anyway to stop the highlights videos from automatically starting every time I change pages within the blog? It is aggravating to the nth degree!!!

well this game is over ! i am very impressed with the first unit on the offense . The defense still needs to improve in certain areas but it will be ok to much talent on that defense not to get it together . I also hope the penalties can get cut down !

bohanon is getting a lot of bones this series

Not a bad drive considering our 2nd unit OL "sucks".

@Bent

Lynch looking better as a pass blocker than run blocker. Guess that jives with the functional strength thing.

Their pass protectionn has "sucked"....which is why they are calling all running plays

On the play Petty was sacked where you said he had a general lack of awareness the pass protection was horrible.......The defense had a clear lane right to the QB..........I don't see how you blame Petty for that play....

@bradysucks @Bent

What are you talking about?  The safety crept up to the edge and was completely unblocked.  No lineman put a foot wrong there.  Even if Petty did reset the protection, it would have been the back's assignment.

Fair  enough...........but my point is you blamed Petty when it was obvious somebody missed a blocking assignment.....

Don't think that is very fair

Petty's pass protection tonight did not look good to me.....It was obvious the Jets were running it like crazy

You could be right and imagine you know the x's and o's better than I do.......My only point was that I wasn't very impressed the 2nd string o-line's pass protection and at this point in Petty's career I am not going to be hard on him..........I gave Geno and Sanchez a "grace period" as well when they were rookies........and I like Petty a lot more than I ever liked Mark or Geno

@Bent @bradysucks

and that is to be expected of a rookie,,,Geno was still missing the same stuff last year...

@idothis2

Lattimore sucks and so does Davis...our LB'ers are not terribly good.

About time. I want to see more Petty, don't really care about the 3rd string D.

My main thought from tonight is this: With the additions of Carpenter, Marshal, and Enunwa on the first team. Our offense looks huge and physically imposing. It really jumped off the screen to me. The WR line up of Marshal, Decker, and Enunwa take up a lot of screen space. I don't know how this translates into production in the regular season but I don't remember a Jets team that looked like that. And that's not even with Amaro in the line up.

I agree: Kerley is clearly our third best WR (actually, he has better hands than Decker).

I don't see how we don't improve on third down and the red zone. It's going to be hard for teams to match up with those guys on short yardage pass plays

@jvsvn

Enunwa hasn't done anything though......He has basically zero production in the 3 preseason games.....

Kerley seems like the better player to me........but I admit that Enunwa's size is intriguing

@bradysucks @jvsvn As I said, I don't know how that line up translates to the "real offense" for the season. But they did throw to Enunwa on the first play of the game. I think this was just to establish him as someone that had to be accounted for. He spent most of the rest of his plays in motion and then blocking. It seems that one of the goals they had for tonight was to get the running game going. Which they did.

I like Petty......Give him Marshall and Decker instead of Shaq Evans and the other scrubs and he'd do a whole lot better.....

Jets 1st team offense is pretty good......Playing with Marshall & Decker is just HUGE for any QB.........Fitz could have a career year playing with these 2 guys

Buff QBs all played really well today.  What gives?

Manuel 7 for 8 170 yds

Taylor 12 for 13 122

Simms 5 for 5 65

Cassel 6 for 7 38

They're all teams captains...of course they played well.  Rex is a genius!

the penalties have to be corrected because they are killing us and we cant take them into the reg season .

Is that a TE blocking that I see?
